From an animated return to Hawkins to new horrors, here’s what’s coming to Netflix from the Duffer Brothers.

So while you rewatch Season 1 for the 10th time “just for comfort,” here’s some good news: Stranger Things co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer are already working on new projects to help fill that Hawkins-shaped hole in your watchlist.

From returning to the snowy chaos of 1985 to introducing entirely new — and perhaps doomed — characters, here’s a look at everything the Duffer Brothers have coming to Netflix.

Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen

Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is an atmospheric horror series that follows a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ill-fated wedding. And, obviously, it’s not a spoiler to say that not everything goes right with the nuptials.

The series comes from executive producers Matt and Ross Duffer and Hilary Leavitt via their Upside Down Pictures overall deal with Netflix. Haley Z. Boston will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

“We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script,” the Duffer Brothers told Netflix. “She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just … very Haley. We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.”

Though it’s a horror series, the show isn’t about jump scares. As Boston puts it, the tone is “unsettling, getting-under-your-skin dread,” mixed with character-driven storytelling. “I love to explore characters. I think sometimes that’s lacking in the horror genre,” she says. “My natural approach is from a place of character and dialogue and humor and then infusing that with unsettling horror … I’m like, ‘I want to be unsettled. I want to be freaked out.’ ”

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85

From showrunner Eric Robles and the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is an animated series set in the stark winter of 1985, when the original characters are about to embark on an epic journey in which they must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town.

Set in the Stranger Things universe between Seasons 2 and 3, the series features characters fans already know and love — but with a twist. “With animation, there are really no limits,” Ross Duffer says in a new first-look video released on Stranger Things Day. “Eric and his team can just go wild — and they have.”

The Boroughs

The Boroughs is an eight-episode drama set in a seemingly picturesque retirement community in the New Mexico desert, where a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have: time. Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) serve as creators and showrunners, with the Duffer Brothers executive producing.

“While the heroes in The Boroughs have a few more years on them than the kids from Stranger Things, they are a similarly lovable bunch of misfits, and we can’t wait for you to join them on an adventure that is at turns scary, funny, and deeply touching,” the Duffer Brothers said in a statement.
