Kelly Osbourne has spoken out after receiving harsh comments online about her appearance following her attendance at the BRIT Awards. She appeared at the event to honor her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, alongside her mother Sharon.

The BRIT Awards took place in Manchester, England, on Saturday, February 28. The event featured several major artists walking the red carpet, including Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, and Olivia Dean.

Despite the star-studded guest list, the ceremony also included an emotional moment as the music industry remembered Ozzy Osbourne. The legendary Black Sabbath frontman received a posthumous lifetime achievement award recognizing his decades of influence and success.

Speaking on the red carpet, Sharon Osbourne explained that the tribute carried special meaning for the family. She noted that throughout Ozzy’s long career, which lasted more than fifty years, he had never actually won a BRIT Award.

Although he never received the honor during his lifetime, Ozzy did host the BRIT Awards ceremony once in 2008.

The iconic musician passed away in July of last year at the age of 76. Shortly before his death, he had completed his farewell performance titled Back To The Beginning in his hometown of Birmingham.

During the tribute segment at the BRIT Awards, singer Robbie Williams performed several of Ozzy’s songs on stage while Kelly and Sharon watched the emotional moment from the audience.

However, some attention on social media shifted away from the tribute itself. Many people began commenting on Kelly’s appearance instead.

Some online users speculated that the 41-year-old may have been using GLP-1 medication as part of her weight loss. After seeing the comments, the singer and television personality addressed the criticism through posts on her Instagram Stories.

She said: “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something.”

“Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.”

She added: “None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!”

This was not the first time Osbourne has spoken openly about remarks regarding her weight. In recent months she has appeared noticeably slimmer, which her mother Sharon previously explained was connected to the grief Kelly experienced after losing her father.

According to Sharon, Kelly struggled to eat while dealing with the loss, which contributed to the change in her appearance.

Last December, Kelly addressed the topic directly in an Instagram video that was later deleted. In the video she responded to critics by saying: “All those people, f*** off”.

She continued by explaining her situation more clearly to viewers and critics.

She went on to say: “To the people who keep thinking they’re being funny and mean by writing comments like ‘Are you ill,’ or ‘Get off Ozempic, you don’t look right,’ my dad just died, and I’m doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family.”

In a separate interview with People, she also spoke about her past struggles and personal growth.

She explained: “I have been a drug addict, an alcoholic … I’ve been a complete mess, disrespectful to people, horrible.”

“But I got more s*** for being fat than I did for anything else. It’s insane.”
