Chad Stahelski directs the fantasy feature that Amazon MGM Studios teased at CinemaCon.

Henry Cavill is unsheathing the first look at his forthcoming movie Highlander.

At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Amazon MGM Studios debuted the footage for director Chad Stahelski‘s film from banner United Artists that is set for theatrical release. Cavill leads the cast that also includes Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Siobhán Cullen, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Drew McIntyre, Max Zhang and Jeremy Irons.

Cavill introduced the first footage in a video segment: “We are only halfway through production but already feel we are creating something truly special.”

The footage includes Cavill declaring, “I am Connor MacLeod, who was born in 1518, and I am immortal.”

Later, Bautista’s character warns Cavill, “When my sword changes history, you will have a front-row seat, Highlander.” This leads Cavill to reply, “All right, if you say so.”

The footage ends with a montage of various character promising, “There can be only one.”

Highlander centers on Connor MacLeod (Cavill), a 16th century Scottish warrior who learns of his immortality and is destined to fight others like himself.

Stahelski (John Wick) helms the film from a script by Kerry Williamson and Mike Finch. The project is a reboot of the original 1986 fantasy movie of the same name that starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery and spawned the 1990s syndicated show Highlander: The Series.

CinemaCon is the annual event for exhibitors and Hollywood studios that runs this year from April 13-16. It is the official convention of Cinema United.
