Elon Musk has called Billie Eilish not the ‘sharpest tool in the shed’ after she shared a post about what he could do with his wealth.

Eilish, 23, shared a post on her social media on November 13 from My Voice My Choice, highlighting what Musk, 54, could achieve with his wealth.

The post included things like: ending world hunger, curing disease, rebuilding Gaza, and saving endangered species.

She then concluded the post with a message: ‘F***ing pathetic p***y b**** coward’.

Five days after her story was shared on X, the Tesla responded, questioning the star’s intelligence.

Last night, Musk replied to the tweet recapping Eilish’s Instagram Stories, writing: ‘She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.’

Fans found the interaction hilarious, with many of Billie’s fans mocking Musk’s message to the pop star.

‘Imagine being pressed by a 23-year-old girl 😭😭😭 she ended him,’ said BillieSpotify_ on X.

‘Musk throwing grade-school insults at Billie Eilish instead of addressing the actual point just proves he can’t handle criticism without punching down. When you’re one of the richest people on Earth and your comeback is ‘she’s not the sharpest tool,’ you’ve basically confirmed the argument for her,’ said ItsSelenaMaris.

‘imagine being the richest man alive and still beefing with a singer instead of fixing literally anything,’ said dumbmodeon.

Others defended Musk. ‘Billie Eilish has zero clue how much you and your companies have helped humanity,’ said BLKMDL3.

Only a few weeks ago, at the WSJ Innovator Awards, Eilish spoke out about wealth distribution and urged billionaires to give their money away.

‘We’re in a time right now when the world is really, really bad and really dark,’ Eilish said in late October.

‘People need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country. I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things and maybe give it to some people that need it.

‘Love you all, but there’s a few people in here who have a lot more money than me. If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away.’

Eilish’s net worth is estimated to be around $50million (£38m), while Musk’s is thought to be $467.9billion (£370.9b).

In October this year, Musk became the world’s first half-trillionaire as the Forbes billionaires index reported his net worth briefly reached $500.1b.

This has mainly been to the increase in share value of his businesses, including Tesla, the artificial intelligence start-up xAI, and rocket company SpaceX.

How does Elon Musk use his wealth?

Bloomberg reported that he gave away $474 million in 2024, mostly to his own charity.

Musk founded The Musk Foundation, a foundation dedicated to ‘advancing humanity’s progress through groundbreaking scientific research, technological innovation, and ambitious endeavours that push the boundaries of what is possible’.

This is done through establishing STEM-focused education in primary and secondary schools.

He gave around $370m to the Foundation, $35 million went to a donor-advised fund at Fidelity Charitable, and a number of other sums to groups focused on health care, disaster relief and education. He also gave sums to the Holocaust Museum LA and the European Jewish Association.

Much of Musk’s wealth is held in stocks and shares, meaning it is not liquid and cannot be taxed in its entirety.

In 2021, Musk publicly challenged the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) to prove on X how $6billion could end world hunger.

‘If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.’ he said on X.

He pledged Tesla stock, saying he would donate the money if it could be proven.

The WFP published a spending plan showing how $6.6 billion would be used to provide food assistance to 42 million people in 43 countries.

But Elon never responded to the plan publicly.

Neil Young called out Musk in a song released this year as he told ‘fascists’ to ‘get a Tesla’.

Bette Midler called him out when she sold her Tesla, calling the brand a ‘symbol of racism, greed and ignorance’.

Bill Burr also previously called Musk an idiot, and Michael Keaton also said of Trump and Musk: ‘They don’t really respect you, they laugh at you behind your back, they think you’re stupid.’
