Cristiano Ronaldo spread some Christmas cheer with his family as he sent a festive message to his fans on social media.

The Portuguese superstar shared a video on his Instagram page early on Christmas Day morning with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and five children.

Walking across what appeared to be his living room, the seven members of Ronaldo’s family were seen heading towards their Christmas tree with the iconic song Last Christmas by Wham! playing in the background.

Some of the group wore matching pyjamas, and Ronaldo added the message: ‘Hope that renews, love that embraces, family that supports and light that guides. Merry Christmas.’

Ronaldo was one of several footballing stars to share their celebrations with fans – and one of many Manchester United stars past and present.

Casemiro, who appeared to be enjoying his own Christmas in Manchester, took to his Instagram page to share wholesome photos with his family donning matching festive pyjamas.

Meanwhile Marcus Rashford, spending his first festive period away from his hometown, proved yet again that he’s loving life in Spain with a post on social media.

The Englishman shared snaps of himself cracking a beaming smile while decorating a Christmas tree on Wednesday with the caption: ‘Christmas Eve vibes.’

Also getting into the Christmas spirit was Premier League top scorer Erling Haaland, who has jetted off to his native Norway for a short getaway.

The 25-year-old posed for a photo with his girlfriend Isabel Johansen ahead of Man City’s clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

He then shared a snap of himself dressed up as Father Christmas with the caption: ‘Here to spread some Christmas Joy! (IYCMI: More Santa vibes on YT).’

Phil Foden has too taken advantage of the days off afforded to City’s players by Pep Guardiola by flying away to the home of Father Christmas in Lapland.

The Mancunian-born forward posed for scenic photos with his girlfriend Rebecca Cooke under the Northern Lights, and he also met some reindeers.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk took to his Instagram page looking pretty pleased with himself as he cracked a smile next to a Yule tree while wishing supporters a Merry Christmas.

His happiness may in part have been motivated by Reds boss Arne Slot giving his squad the day off for the first time in van Dijk’s Premier League career.

‘We have Christmas Day off which is very nice of the staff,’ van Dijk said after Liverpool’s 2-1 victory against Tottenham last week.

‘It’s a nice change. I’ll be at home on Christmas Eve too and I’m really looking forward to it.

‘The staff always have a particular plan for a game. It works well for everyone. It’s special to be off on Christmas Day.

‘I don’t think it’s happened in my Premier League career so far. I’ll make the most of being with my family and enjoy it all.’

Elsewhere, Bukayo Saka wasted no time getting into the festive spirit with the Arsenal talisman taking to Instagram as early as Monday to show off how he’s celebrating.

Ahead of the Gunners’ Carabao Cup clash with Crystal Palace on Tuesday, Saka shared a snap of his New Balance boots and his dog, adorably dressed up in Santa pyjamas.

The England ace has jetted off to Dubai for a mid-season break and some well-earned rest and recuperation along with his brother Jobe.

Jude gave fans a glimpse into his Middle Eastern getaway on Wednesday with a slew of snaps posted on social media showing him soaking in the sun, visiting the desert and even riding a camel.

The Bellingham brothers also posed for a family photo together.
