Britney Spears wrote in a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday night that she “will never perform in the U.S. again” for “extremely sensitive reasons.”
The singer shared a throwback photo of herself sitting beside a white Yamaha piano, writing in the caption, “Sending this piano to my son this year!!! Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about. Yup and it’s embarrassing sometimes… but I walked through the fire to save my life.”
Although Spears ruled out any future performances in the U.S., she teased the possibility of performing in the U.K. and Australia, writing, “I will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons but I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son… in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,”
Spears continued, “He’s a huge star and I’m so humbled to be in his presence!!! God speed, little man!!!”
Spears did not specify which son she was referring to in the post. She shares two children, Sean Preston and Jayden, with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
Spears last performed live in the U.S. in October 2018, closing out her “Piece of Me” tour with a final show at the Formula One Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. She had been scheduled to return to Las Vegas in 2019 for a second residency, “Domination,” following the success of her first residency, “Britney Spears: Piece of Me,” which concluded in 2017. However, she ultimately postponed the “Domination” show and stepped away from performing indefinitely due to family matters.
“I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.”
