Steven Tyler Announces 32-Date World Tour as He Makes Long-Awaited Stage Return

Steven Tyler has announced a 32-date world tour that will mark his return to the stage following a serious vocal injury that forced him away from live performances. The Aerosmith frontman will perform across North America, Europe, and Australia throughout 2026, signaling a new chapter after years of uncertainty about his future as a touring artist.
The announcement follows months of speculation after Tyler began making select appearances that hinted at a comeback. Known for his powerful voice and energetic performances, the singer now plans his most extensive solo run in years, bringing both classic hits and personal material to audiences worldwide.
The Road Back After a Career-Threatening Injury
Tyler’s return comes after a difficult recovery that began in September 2023, when he suffered a fractured larynx during an Aerosmith concert in Elmont, New York, part of the band’s Peace Out farewell tour. The injury forced the cancellation of remaining shows and required extended medical care and vocal rest.
In August 2024, Aerosmith officially retired from touring after 54 years on the road. The decision appeared to close the chapter on one of rock’s most enduring live acts. Many fans believed Tyler might never perform again, given the seriousness of the injury and the physical demands of singing at his level.
Early Signs of a Comeback
Despite uncertainty, Tyler’s recovery progressed steadily. In May 2024, he surprised audiences in London by joining the Black Crowes onstage for a performance of “Mama Kin,” offering the first public sign that his voice was improving.
Momentum continued into 2025. On February 2, Tyler headlined his annual Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party at the Hollywood Palladium, performing a six-song set that reassured fans and industry observers that he had regained strong vocal control.

A Star-Filled Return at Jam for Janie
The Jam for Janie performance featured guest musicians including Nuno Bettencourt, Joan Jett, Billy Idol, Lainey Wilson, and Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton. Together, they performed Aerosmith favorites such as “Toys in the Attic,” “Dream On,” “Walk This Way,” and “Sweet Emotion,” along with a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Heartbreaker.”
The intimate Los Angeles show drew an emotional response from attendees, many of whom had followed Tyler’s recovery closely. His ability to deliver high notes and sustained vocals demonstrated clear progress after months of rehabilitation and careful training.
Tour Plans and Industry Reaction
The upcoming tour will include 32 performances across three continents, though full ticket details have yet to be announced. Industry insiders view the schedule as ambitious, especially considering the singer’s recent medical history and the physical demands of international travel.
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton addressed Tyler’s recovery earlier this year, saying, “Steven’s healing process is going really, really well, but it goes at its own pace. Maybe Aerosmith will do something in the future, but it’s a big if and the last thing I want to be doing is to try and push Steven in that direction. If we do anything in the future, it would come from him.”
What Fans Can Expect From the Shows
Based on recent performances, Tyler’s concerts are expected to combine Aerosmith classics with selections from his 2016 solo album We’re All Somebody from Somewhere. Songs like “Walk This Way,” “Dream On,” “Sweet Emotion,” and “Toys in the Attic” are likely to remain central to the setlist.
The solo material introduces a different side of Tyler’s musical style, blending rock with country and bluegrass influences. This mix allows him to revisit familiar hits while exploring sounds that reflect his later creative interests.

A Return Shaped by Experience and Persistence
At 78, Tyler continues to command attention through his stage presence and connection with audiences. His recent appearances suggest careful pacing, with performances designed to protect his voice while maintaining the energy fans expect.
The new tour follows a period when many believed his performing career had reached its end. The fractured larynx not only halted Aerosmith’s farewell tour but also raised broader questions about longevity in rock music.
By announcing a global tour, Tyler signals renewed confidence in his health and abilities. Each scheduled performance represents another step in his return to live music, bringing audiences the chance to see one of rock’s most recognizable voices back under the stage lights.
