Netflix announced some thrilling news that’s absolutely not a big mistake! During the streaming service’s upfronts presentation, fans were treated to some exciting new series announcements as well as a number of renewals, including Running Point season 3, My Life with the Walter Boys season 4, and Big Mistakes season 2. You read that right: The crime comedy will be back!
The comedy series from Emmy Award-winning Schitt’s Creek co-creator and star Dan Levy premiered on Netflix in April 2026, and despite putting up smaller than expected viewership numbers during its short-lived tenure on the Global Top 10, Netflix is betting big on Big Mistakes. The official season 2 renewal comes a little over two months after the critically acclaimed premiere.
Dan Levy scores Big Mistakes season 2 and new Netflix deal
While the initial viewership returns had us worried that Big Mistakes season 2 might not happen, we’re positively delighted that Levy will have the chance to continue telling this hilariously twisted story. In a statement about the renewal, the co-creator and star said:
“Very grateful and beyond excited to continue the Big Mistakes adventure and my creative collaboration with Netflix. Season 2 is already in the works and it’s going to be WILD. I can’t wait to get it out there to everyone as soon as humanly possible.”

In addition to the Big Mistakes season 2 pickup, Netflix also doubled down on their creative partnership with Levy. The multi-hyphenate previously had an overall deal with the streaming, that resulted in his directorial debut Good Grief, but he will now have a first-look TV deal that will allow him to continue producing new series that Netflix will have first dibs at.
That’s an added layer of excitement for fans of Levy’s work because it means there could be more television shows from him coming to Netflix in the future. For now, Levy remains hard at work on Big Mistakes season 2, which he teases is already in the works. That doesn’t mean filming has started yet, but he and the writers are clearly hard at work crafting the stories to come.
In the Big Mistakes season 1 finale, Nicky and Morgan’s ride in the crime world’s fastlane reaches an unexpected new level when they discover that Max’s mother Annette was the mastermind crime boss behind the scenes the whole. She was the one who needed to get the stolen necklace back, and she’s responsible for Linda’s win. Annette now has the whole family in her back pocket.
There’s no doubt Levy, his co-creator Rachel Sennott, and their writing team will concoct unpredictable twists and turns for Nicky and Morgan in season 2, especially now that the game has changed with Annette breathing down their necks. They are on the hook and seemingly unable to escape her clutches. Who knows where this new partnership could take them?
Levy shared that he hopes to get Big Mistakes season 2 on our watch lists as soon as possible, which means production will likely begin before the end of the year for a release sometime in the second half of 2027 at the earliest. Stay tuned for more news and updates!
