Beyoncé is now officially a billionaire, joining an elite club of five musicians to obtain the status.

The Grammy award-winning artist, 44, has become one of the world’s wealthiest people following the success of her Cowboy Carter tour this year, according to Forbes.

The tour, which sold out stadiums in the United States and Europe, grossed more than $400m (£269m) in ticket sales, and an extra $50m (£37m) in merchandise sales.

Her husband, rapper Jay-Z, was the first artist to become a billionaire on Forbes’s list. It makes the pair the world’s first couple with respective billionaire fortunes.

Beyoncé also now joins Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift in reaching the elite status.

Although she has launched several ventures, including her haircare line Cécred and Ivy Park, her discontinued activewear line with Adidas, most of her personal fortune comes from her music, according to Forbes.

In 2010, she founded Parkwood Entertainment, a management and production company, to manage all of her creative ventures.

Cowboy Carter, her 2024 album, was critically acclaimed, winning Beyoncé her first Album Of the Year Grammy.

The tour that followed was the world’s highest-grossing music tour of 2025.

“Across any category of the entertainment industry, there is practically no enterprise more lucrative than a musician who can sell out stadiums,” Forbes wrote.

The singer made history this year by becoming the first woman and American act to have two different tours earn more than $400m (£297m).

In April, Beyoncé finished the record-breaking Cowboy Carter tour in Las Vegas with special appearances from Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, her former R&B girl group, and country singer Shaboozey.

Throughout her tour, the 16 Carriages vocalist paid homage to black American contributions to country music.

She has spoken candidly about not feeling welcomed in the country genre despite her Texas roots, after she became the first black woman to win Best Country Album at the Grammy Awards for Cowboy Carter.

There are now more than 3,000 billionaires around the world, according to Forbes.

Elon Musk remains the richest man in the world, with an estimated net worth of $342bn (£254bn).
