We’re still a couple of days away from the actual Ryder Cup and Team U.S.A. has already claimed victory

One of the best events in all of sports (not just golf) is quickly approaching: The Ryder Cup. If you’ve never heard of it, you are missing out big time. The contest pits the 12 best golfers from the United States against Europe’s 12 top-tier golfers in a three-day, match-play extravaganza.

The bi-annual event – which tees off on September 26 and runs through September 28 – is one of the only times that golf’s match play format takes the grandest stage, and obviously when you pit two countries against one another (especially U.S.A. and Europe), there’s going to be a lot of emotion and national pride involved. It’s truly one of the great weekends in all of sports.

And while that competition is highly anticipated, there’s another event that happens right before it that get’s people fired up as well: the Celebrity/All-Star Ryder Cup. It basically follows the same format. Get a group of Americans to play against a group of Europeans, and it’s all a big team event with the champion decided through match play.

Here’s how the teams stacked up:

Team USA

Colin Jost

Eli Manning

Miranda Lambert

Michael Strahan

Noah Kahan

Kane Brown

Bobby Flay

John McEnroe

Team Europe

Toni Kukoč

Brooklynn Beckham

Caterine Zeta-Jones

Pau Gasol

Tom Felton

Oliver Phelps

Teemu Selanne

Jose Andres

We’ve known for quite some time that extremely amateur golfer (she had played 22 holes of golf in her life prior to this month) and country music star Miranda Lambert would be a part of the team. She’s been sharing her “Road to the Ryder Cup” coverage through her socials all month long:

“I’ve played 22 holes of golf in my life, and I’m playing the Ryder Cup this year. So we are on the road to the Ryder Cup, good, bad and ugly. Come with us…

Thanks to my coach, Dan Parker, The Troubadour Club, PXG, and my husband Brendan McLoughlin, I’m gonna give it hell. My pal Luke Bryan called and gave me a pep talk the other day and he encouraged me to bring y’all on this journey for moral support. So Day 1 here we go! Cheers to trying new things.”

And it looks like all that practice paid off, because not only did Miranda win her match (she was paired up with Michael Strahan), the United States Celebrity team emerged victorious over Team Europe’s celebrity golfers. Noah Kahan and Kane Brown played together and also won their match over Tom Felton and Oliver Phelps.

Thus, it was a full-blown country/pop/folk music sweep at the Celebrity Ryder Cup:

USA! USA! USA! Hopefully this is a sign of more American victory to come this weekend. And shoutout to Miranda Lambert for basically learning how to play golf this month, and then helping the USA team take down the Europeans. Can’t call her an amateur golfer anymore… she’s an AMERICAN CHAMPION GOLFER now.

Here are the final results from the Ryder Cup All Star Match, in case you were wondering:
