REPORT: NFL Makes Final Decision On The Playing Of The Black National Anthem At Super Bowl 59

The National Football League has been criticized for playing the Black National Anthem before sporting events, but now it appears they have made a final decision on the controversial song ahead of Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl 59, but before those two teams start playing, they will be on the sidelines at attention while listening to a few performances.

The Black National Anthem is sung in churches, schools, and communities around the country, and this will mark the fifth year the song will be sung at the NFL’s biggest night.

The tradition of singing “Life Every Voice and Sing” began during the first week of the 2020 season, and the NFL has decided to continue it on Sunday night, too.

The National Football League has confirmed that Grammy Award-winning artist Ledisi will play and perform it.

 

The New Orleans native will be playing before The Star Spangled Banner.

The Black National Anthem Will be Played For The Fifth Consecutive Super Bowl

It has been over a century since the NAACP adopted “Lift Every Voice and Sing” as the “Black national anthem.”

The NFL has eliminated the “End Racism” slogan that was painted on the back of the endzone, but “Lift Every Voice and Sing” is not going anywhere and will be played during a fifth consecutive Super Bowl.
