Former Texas Longhorn Kevin Durant refuses trade to NBA team he won two rings with

Phoenix Suns forward and former Texas Longhorn Kevin Durant reportedly wants nothing to do with a return to the Golden State Warriors at the NBA trade deadline. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported as much Wednesday, some 24 hours before the deadline passes.

“The Warriors have been seriously pursuing Kevin Durant over the last week. But sources tell me that Durant has no desire in a reunion with the Warriors.

He doesn’t want to go back to the Warriors, where he won two championships, won two Finals MVPs.

The Suns’ position in all of this has been to continue to build around Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. But due to their record, teams have been very aggressive calling the Suns.

It’s unclear where these talks go between now and tomorrow’s deadline, but one thing is clear around the league right now: Kevin Durant does not want to go back to the Warriors in any trade,” Charania said.

Durant is averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game as a two-way force in Phoenix this season.

His numbers are down since his days as the No. 1 option with the Brooklyn Nets, but he has a 74-46 record and two postseason appearances alongside Devin Booker.

It’s no wonder the Warriors were such a serious suitor, per Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix on Monday.

“The Warriors are indeed serious about reuniting with Kevin Durant, sources told SI. And with efforts to acquire Jimmy Butler stalled rival execs believe the Suns are strongly considering Durant deals before the deadline,” Mannix said.

As it stands, Golden State may need to pursue other star options. The one they had and didn’t appreciate has seemingly moved on for good.
