Former Love Island contestant Zara McDermott has opened up about the supposed tension between her ex-partner Sam Thompson and her current love interest, ex-One Direction member Louis Tomlinson. The pair initially struck up a romance in early 2019, confirming their relationship via Instagram that June.

Their journey as a couple was visible for all to see on the popular E4 series ‘Made In Chelsea. ‘. They experienced a hiccup in their relationship but rekindled by December 2020. Tragically, last year marked the end of their union, with Sam calling it a “tough year.”

In a romantic turn, Zara’s link to Louis came to light, eventually confirmed after he sweetly commented on her Instagram, stating: “Proud of you x.” Adding to the intrigue, earlier this year, Sam and Louis ended up teammates in Soccer Aid, a charity football match supporting UNICEF, reports OK!.

Discussing the matter with The Sun magazine, she expressed her priorities clearly saying: “The only thing in my life that’s worth writing about is the work I do.” Despite this, she was keen to quash any rumours of bad blood between her ex and new boyfriend, stating: “I see some of the things that are written and I’m like: ‘Why do we focus on the non-existent drama?’ Sometimes that can be frustrating, but I suppose it’s all part of the industry.”

Beyond her appearances on Love Island and Made in Chelsea, she showcased her dance moves when she partnered with Graziano Di Prima on Strictly Come Dancing. Unfortunately, their journey on the dance floor was cut short as they were eliminated in the fifth week of the competition.

In addition to reality TV, she has carved out a niche for herself in documentary filmmaking, producing several shows that delve into significant issues. Among her most notable documentaries are Ibiza: Secrets of the Party Island and Zara McDermott: Disordered Eating.
