Wyndham Clark is in the bad books of golf fans yet again after his take on the course at the Hero World Challenge.

Clark smashed up a locker during the US Open at Oakmont earlier this year, resulting in him being banned from the venue.

It’s not the only time he’s lost his cool, with Clark throwing his driver into an advertising board at the PGA Championship.

He is more than ready to put 2025 behind him, but he’s managed to cause more controversy this week, with Clark criticizing the conditions at Albany.

Wyndham Clark causes more controversy with Hero World Challenge criticism

Asked at the Hero World Challenge what makes the grass so difficult to play on, Clark said: “Do you want the politically correct answer? It’s not in good shape.

“You’re always chipping into the grain, and there’s a lot of chips that are up and over, so you have to chip up.

“And you’re coming from really bad lies in Bermuda, and you have to hit it up and there’s just very little margin for error.”

Reacting to the comments, one golf fan wrote on X: “Poor baby. Playing for free money and extra points. Most overrated player on tour.”

A second agreed: “Such an ungrateful person. Rankings are sinking, gets a free lifeline into the Hit and Giggle to rescue his world ranking and he’s b——-? Such a chump.”

A third concurred: “Poor baby has to play golf for a living in such terrible conditions, hope Tiger [Woods] forgets to invite him next year.”

Others said: “Oh no… you have to chip into the grain…. Such a travesty,” and “Locker rooms everywhere are trembling…”

And more golf fans agreed, commenting: “Oh boo hoo, it’s tougher than I’d like because of the mean grain. Same course everyone else is playing bro,” and “Is there a bigger loser than this guy?”

Bizarre Wyndham Clark criticism comes amid strong Hero World Challenge showing

Clark’s frustration with the course remarkably comes despite the American enjoying a strong tournament in The Bahamas so far.

He enters the fourth and final round sitting T5 in the leaderboard on 13-under, just four shots behind leader Sepp Straka.

Straka leads the way on 17-under, followed by Scottie Scheffler on 16-under and Hideki Matsuyama and Alex Noren on 14-under.

A strong finish would be a huge boost for Clark, who has indeed endured a frustrating season on the PGA Tour in 2025.

He missed five cuts and withdrew from one event in his 24 starts, from which he claimed zero wins and two top 10s.
