It comes as plot details for the follow up to the iconic 2006 movie came to light

ANNE Hathaway took a terrifying tumble down a stone staircase as she was spotted filming scenes for The Devil Wears Prada sequel.

Several OG cast members from the original Hollywood flick, including Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, will make their comeback for the long-awaited follow-up.

Yet it is American actress Anne, 42, who is seen sprawled out on the floor in an apparent mishap while shooting scenes in her role as Andy Sachs in New York.

She wore her character’s typical stylish look of a checked long-sleeve top and black pleat mini-skirt, accessorising with a dark bag.

While the outfit gave autumnal vibes, she added a splash of sass with chunky silver-studded heeled sandals – which could well have been the culprit causing her to trip up in painful fashion.

She was seen tucking her brunette locks behind her ear as she exited a building.

Wearing sunglasses, the screen star may not have been fully aware of the bric steps lying in wait, but after walking down the first one, she became unsteady and fell down the rest, landing on her bum at the bottom.

It did not appear to be part of the script, with producers then seen rushing over to assist as the heel could clearly be seen broken off the shoe on her right foot.

In the movie sequel, Miranda Priestly is confirmed to be the head of Runway, but Emily Blunt’s character Emily Charlton, former assistant to Miranda, is now an executive at a luxury brand that advertises with Runway magazine.

Emily now holds the power that Miranda needs to help her magazine, while Andy is now a magazine editor but is then dragged back into Miranda’s world.

Meanwhile, at the end of the original film, it’s hinted that Andy and partner Nate they go their separate ways.

Nate takes a job in Boston and Andy leaves Runway to start her new role at a local newspaper.

Earlier this year, Anne was again spotted filming scenes in New York City.

This time around, she was seen in a colour block maxi dress by Gabriela Hearst with a blue suitcase and in another snap she was pictured in a dark pinstripe suit with black boots and messenger bag.

CAST NEWS

Earlier this year, we reported how a BBC star had been “cast” as Anne’s character’s love interest.

The Australian actor, who starred in drama series No Activity and Colin From Accounts, has landed a role in the long-awaited sequel.

Although it has not been confirmed who the 49-year-old will be playing, New Idea reported that Patrick Brammall will star as Anne’s character’s new love interest.

There are a number of other new faces joining the cast, including US actress Rachel Bloom, who is known series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

The Devil Wears Prada grossed $326 million at the worldwide box office, with Streep receiving an Oscar nomination.

Previously, a deleted scene from the original 2006 flick resurfaced, leaving fans stunned.

The video shows a scene at a ball and features an appearance from Miranda’s husband, who is not seen in the rest of the film.

It shows Andy helping out Miranda as she takes away a business connection her spouse insults, while she deals with her marital situation.

Miranda can then be seen thanking Andy for her assistance – a rare move for the blunt businesswoman.

Fans were delighted the scene was not included as they believed the softer side was “out of character” for Meryl’s role.
