Ella Langley shared a sneak peek of her soon-to-debut single, “Choosin’ Texas,” which she wrote with country superstar Miranda Lambert.

Langley tells the story of a love triangle as she sits alone at a bar in the clip she shared on Tuesday (October 14). Viewers can spot a man wearing a cowboy hat dancing with another woman across the room. Langley sings:

“Just when I thought I got him to fall in love with Tennessee/ I should’ve known better than to take him back to Abilene/ Put him right back into her arms/ I wasn’t a match for that kind of spark/ She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way/ He’s two-steppin’ ‘round the room/ And judgin’ by the smile that’s written on his face, there’s nothin’ I can do/ It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see/ A cowboy always finds a way to leave/ Drinkin’ Jack all by myself/ He’s choosin’ Texas, I can tell”

Langley and Lambert — who teamed up on stage at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards earlier this year — wrote the heartbreak ballad with songwriters Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. “Choosin’ Texas” is due to release on Friday (October 17). Listen to Langley’s sneak peek below.

The Couple on the Cover of Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” Looks a Lot Like Two Famous Country Stars

Take a good, hard look at the cover of that new Ella Langley single. Then let us know when you see what we’re talking about.

Ella Langley

Fans believe that Ella Langley laid one big Easter Egg on the cover of her latest single, “Choosin’ Texas.”

The artwork features a couple driving in a red convertible into the city of Amarillo. The driver is wearing a cowboy hat while a beautiful blonde sits next to him. We honestly don’t see…wait a second! How could we have missed this?!?! (smacks hand on forehead)

What Is the New Song From Ella Langley About?

As we reported yesterday, Langley released a promo of the twangy track on social media. It features her sitting at a bar while watching a guy dance with another girl on the dance floor.

Another clip shares a little bit of the chorus: “She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way he’s two-steppin’ around the room / And judging by the smile that’s written on his face, there’s nothing I can do.”

It seems like the “Choosin’ Texas,” which Langley co-wrote with Miranda Lambert, Joybeth Taylor, and Luke Dick, is about a woman on the losing side of a love triangle. Sounds like Langley has another hit on her hands. We’ll know for sure when the song comes out this Friday, Oct. 17.

But What About the Cover Art?

First, some background:

For months, despite the fact that he insists he is single, rumors have swirled that Riley Green and Megan Moroney are dating. Moroney denies the rumors as well. However, fans are always sharing their “proof” online. But if we’re being honest, TikToks like this aren’t helping their case.

The dating rumors then shifted to Ella Langley after the two worked together on “You Look Like You Love Me.” Still, Green denied they were dating.

“I think fans want to believe that what you sing about is real,” Green said. “Follow those lyrics and think there’s a story there. I can comprehend people that are thinking there’s something going on. For me, I’m just glad that we’re having success together. I’m so proud of her.”

So what does any of this have to do with the cover of “Choosin’ Texas?”

Take another look at the TikTok of Green and Moroney in the convertible. Noticing the similarities now? Given the song’s theme, it makes sense why fans are connecting the dots.

Of course, there are plenty of holes in the theory that the song is about Green and Moroney. For one, Moroney is from Georgia. It’s Lambert who’s from Texas.

Still, it’s fun to imagine the possibilities.
