Ryan Lavner picks who is the better player out of Cameron Young and Tommy Fleetwood.

Tommy Fleetwood and Cameron Young have both experienced similar heartache on the PGA Tour over the past few years.

However, Young finally got the monkey off his back by winning his first ever PGA Tour event on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship.

Meanwhile, Fleetwood‘s wait for a PGA Tour win continues to drag on.

Young blew away the field at the Wyndham Championship on Sunday, and claimed his maiden PGA Tour title in the process.

Fleetwood had his chance to do the same at the Travelers Championship in June, but he collapsed down the stretch, and was overtaken by US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley.

The Englishman is now without a win in 161 PGA Tour starts, although he does have 42 top-10s to his name.

Maybe Young’s victory last week will give Fleetwood the inspiration he needs to finally break his duck in America.

Now that Young has his first win on the PGA Tour, he might just have the edge over Fleetwood.

Ryan Lavner has been speaking about who is the better player out of the American and the Englishman on The Golf Channel Podcast with Rex and Lav.

He said: You mentioned who was the best player without a win – was it Cameron Young or Tommy Fleetwood? I actually think it was Cam Young when you look at his major championship record, the other top 10’s he’s had.

Tommy Fleetwood hasn’t done a lot of winning worldwide over the past six or seven years. I think he has just won twice, Cameron Young has put himself in position and played better golf on Sunday.

Tommy Fleetwood has been more prone to heartbreak. I understand not all runner-up finishes are created equal. Sometimes you just get beat, sometimes you back door into them.

But I thought Cameron Young’s overall body of work, particularly since 2022 when he burst on to the scene, was more impressive than Tommy Fleetwood’s.

Lavner makes a good point, but he was slightly dismissive of Fleetwood’s seven wins on the DP World Tour and his three Ryder Cup appearances.

Tommy Fleetwood vs Cameron Young: Career PGA Tour records

Fleetwood and Young have been incredibly consistent performers on the PGA Tour over the past few years.

However, Young has now separated himself from Fleetwood with his victory at the Wyndham.

Here is how their career results stack up alongside each other:

In fairness to both players, those numbers are really impressive.

Young’s just looks slightly better than Fleetwood’s right now purely because of his win on Sunday.

It will surely only be a matter of time before the 34-year-old Englishman joins the man from Scarborough, New York, in the PGA Tour winners’ circle.
