Tom Brady Would ‘Never’ Say Sofia Vergara Is Too Old for Him to Date, Says Rep

The former quarterback, 47, and Vergara, 53, were seen hanging out together on a superyacht earlier this month

Tom Brady “would never” say that he thinks Sofia Vergara, 53, is “too old” for him, a representative for the former quarterback, 47, tells PEOPLE, in denial of a recent report.

“Tom never said, nor would he ever say, anything like this. It is pure fiction,” his rep says.

Speculation about the duo first surfaced when it was noted the two were seen getting friendly during a recent A-list outing aboard Ritz Carlton’s new superyacht, the Luminara, in early July.

Page Six reported that an insider said Brady asked if he could sit next to the Modern Family actress at dinner.

Soon after that night, Vergara shared a photo of the pair to her Instagram. In the snap, she and Brady are seated next to one another, as singer J Balvin stops by and kisses the Griselda star’s forehead. In the photo, she’s laughing with her eyes closed as Brady smiles at the camera.

TMZ later reported that while the pair have been enjoying the trip together, they are not dating.

Vergara and Brady were among a large group of celebrities on board, including Martha Stewart, Naomi Campbell, Ricky Martin, Kate Hudson, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, Kendall Jenner and Brady’s rumored former flame Irina Shayk, among others. The A-list crew were gathered for the luxury vessel’s maiden voyage, a two-night journey for 400 guests that departed from Rome on July 1 for Malta.

Brady has mostly remained single since his divorce from Gisele Bündchen, with whom he shares two children. He also shares son Jack, 17, with his ex Bridget Moynahan. Vergara, who has a son Manolo, 32, with her ex Joe Gonzales, has also been single since splitting from Joe Manganiello in 2023 after seven years of marriage.

In May, the Colombian beauty opened up to Jenna Bush on the TODAY show, saying that she panicked a bit about having to date again after divorce, and sharing what she was looking for in a partner.

“I want to say the basic stuff, like health and somebody that loves me,” she said. “And somebody tall, handsome. I want somebody that has as much money as me or more, because if not, it’s a nightmare. They end up resenting you.”

She added that her priority was to find “somebody fun. I need fun in my life.”
