Country music star Tim McGraw has had a rough go physically the past couple years, and things apparently got so bad that he contemplated giving up his career altogether.

McGraw, 58, recently made the revelation in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“I’ve had four back surgeries and double knee replacements, just in the last couple of years,” he said. “And my wife is going through quite a few surgeries — she’s had five neck surgeries, and she’s had a couple of hand surgeries.”

That is when McGraw revealed just how bad things got.

“This spring, before I had my final back surgery, things were really bad,” he said. “So I was seriously contemplating and figuring out how to walk away. I didn’t want to, but I didn’t think it was going to get better.”

It’s actually not the first time that McGraw had talked about the fact that he was thinking about hanging it up. He discussed it earlier this year after having to take the end of last year off due to his injuries.

“To have almost a year of just sitting there (doing nothing), and I can tell you that after double knee replacements and three back surgeries and now a torn rotator cuff and a ruptured disc, there were times this year that I thought this might be it,” he said in an appearance on the ‘Tracy Lawrence’s Road House’ podcast. “This might be time to hang it up.”
