“During intense fighting, with attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles and drones, U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses,” the statement said.

All six crew members parachuted to safety, were rescued, and are currently in stable condition.

“Kuwait has confirmed the incident, and we express our gratitude for the efforts of the Kuwaiti Defence Forces and their support in the ongoing operation.”

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The aircraft crashed while on a mission supporting a military operation against Iran, codenamed Operation Epic Fury.

Earlier, Kuwait’s defense minister said that “several” US fighter jets had crashed.

The F-15 Eagle fighter jet has been an icon of the U.S. Air Force since it first entered service.
