The Zac Brown Band probably would have preferred not to be attached to the Church of Satan, but after a weekend full of folks accusing it of performing a demonic ritual during its residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, there was almost no escaping it.

For the folks who missed the fuss, Brown and his group unveiled some stunning imagery, but not everyone was loving it.

The band began its “Love & Fear” residency on Friday, and as Whiskey Riff noted, videos from the opening of the show “appeared to be a descent into Hell.” TikTok videos shared from the concert show Brown playing while wearing a crown that looked a whole heck of a lot like horns while being surrounded by skeletal, Devil-like images.

Some fans took it and ran with it.

So, with all the noise around the show, TMZ took it a step further and actually reached out to the Church of Satan about the accusations and asked if what folks saw was actually a “Satanic ritual.”

Satanic Rev. Jared Mammon told TMZ that the imagery was, in fact, not part of any such ritual. The outlet said that Mammon told them the uproar was part of decades-old hysteria where folks identify “everything that amounts to glorified Halloween decorations as ‘Satanic.’”

TMZ said Mammon encouraged folks “who are frightened by theatrical skeletons wearing crows to pause for a moment to reflect on their knee-jerk reaction and consider the implications before jumping to lengths worthy of an Olympic gold medal.”

It remains to be seen how this take from the Church of Satan will land with the fans who lashed out at the band about its show because things were not pretty on social media.

“Very popular American country rock band The Zac Brown Band performed at the Las Vegas Sphere,” Isaac’s Army wrote on X. “As you can see here he is performing a Satanic Ritual over his unsuspecting fans during the show. This is a classic case of Loosh harvesting.”

“Zac Brown Band performed a demonic ritual at the sphere,” Truth Seeker posted on X. “Most of these concerts are energy harvesting rituals.”

Country music star John Rich shared video of it and his followers were quick to chime in.

“Demonic … evil does not hide anymore,” Monica Keatts replied. “It’s celebrated.”

“More ‘artists’ who achieved success by selling themselves to the devil,” another wrote.

The band continued to share photos and clips through the weekend on Instagram, and the replies were had to miss.

“Oh look another one who sold their souls,” Samanta Kent commented on one post.

“Christ is King,” another person wrote.

“You’ve lost me a big fan!” another wrote. “You’ve crossed into the demonic realm like way too many artists. Never thought I’d see this from a great country band! It’s a damn shame!”
