Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was in Lubbock on Monday night to watch Texas Tech’s basketball team face Houston at United Supermarkets Arena.

Mahomes was sitting courtside with his wife Brittany for this top-10 showdown between Big 12 opponents. Unfortunately for the two-time MVP, his alma mater was unable to pull off the upset at home.

While the spotlight was certainly on Mahomes for most of Monday’s game, Texas Tech cheerleader Cali-Reese Martin turned some heads on the sideline.

Martin, 21, has been posting Texas Tech content through the 2024-25 school year. Back in the fall, she shared this message after a football game: “Love what you do. Do what you love. But most importantly go raiders.”

If you’re familiar with her social media content, you’d know that Martin loves her role on Texas Tech’s cheerleading squad.

The highlight of Martin’s cheerleading career occurred last April when she became a national champion.

“I do not even know where to begin. This year has been a complete roller coaster. From the highest of highs… to the lowest of lows… 3TBM made history. We did it,” she wrote on Instagram. “A first year team in the Small CoEd D1A Division and I cannot be more proud.

Thank you Texas Tech for placing the dream in little 4 year old Cali’s mind to compete on that bandshell in a double T uniform as the center flyer. Getting the victory bells rung is truly one of my greatest accomplishments.

Hitting both days on that bandshell and sprinting into the ocean was so worth it especially with the people I call my family. I cannot express how thankful I am for Texas Tech, my family, my team, my coaches, and myself for believing in me and trusting me with this honor.

This year has truly formed me into the woman I am becoming and I will forever be grateful for all of the hard work and dedication we put in. The work was definitely worth it. ❤️ #PIB #ZEN #wedidit

Even though Martin’s popularity is mostly a result of her work as a cheerleader, she also posts photos from her personal life on Instagram.

Since the NCAA Tournament is almost here, it won’t be long until Martin is back in the spotlight. For all we know, she may go viral next time the Red Raiders have a home game.

Texas Tech won’t be back home until March 5 against Colorado. Next up is a showdown with Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Red Raiders currently own a 21-8 record, which is good enough for third place in the Big 12.
