Rumors of a consensual “threesome”

Around late May and early June, rumors spread on American social media that Katie Miller, wife of White House advisor Stephen Miller, had left her husband to be with billionaire Elon Musk.

According to a report by the fact-checking site Snopes on June 2, the rumor emerged after it was reported that Ms. Miller left the US Government Efficiency Group (DOGE) to work full-time for Mr. Musk.

On the Bluesky platform, an account named @gwensnyder.bsky.social posted an article saying that three people, Ms. Katie Miller, Mr. Stephen Miller and Mr. Elon Musk, had a consensual three-way relationship.

The article, citing the New York Times, said that Mr. Miller had posted words expressing dissatisfaction aimed at Mr. Musk on social media.

The content quickly attracted attention with 7,600 likes and more than 3,200 shares, and spread to other platforms such as social network X.

Snopes said the rumor had appeared multiple times on Bluesky, then spread to the X platform when the official account of the US Democratic National Committee posted a picture of a chair placed in the corner of a hotel room, along with a tag referring to Mr. Miller with the “cuck chair” icon.

Cuckold is a slang term used to mock someone who is seen as weak, passive, or taken advantage of in a relationship, usually romantic.

Musk’s bruise fuels rumors

According to the verification site Snopes , the article on Bluesky cited an article from the technology site Wired on February 27, stating that when Mr. Miller took on the role of policy advisor, Ms. Miller was also assigned to be in charge of communications at DOGE and worked directly under Mr. Musk.

An unnamed Republican source said that Ms. Miller had a “controlling” role with Mr. Musk, with the job of keeping him on his toes, and while it was not explicitly stated, the article suggested a complicated “three-way” relationship between the Millers and Mr. Musk.

On May 28, CNN reported that Ms. Miller had left DOGE to work full-time for Mr. Musk in a communications support role.

The report cited three anonymous sources, so Snopes said it could not verify the information itself.

While the rumor mill continued to churn, Miller did not respond directly but did retweet Musk’s post about leaving the government along with a screenshot of his statement about DOGE.

Snopes noted that this action could indicate that Ms. Miller is actually taking on the role of spokesperson for Mr. Musk.

But according to Snopes ‘ analysis , the truth is that Ms. Miller works as a special government employee, which means she is only allowed to work a maximum of 130 days/year, so whether she continues or not, she will still be forced to leave DOGE when her term expires.

On May 30, Mr. Musk appeared in the Oval Office with US President Donald Trump at the event announcing his departure from the US Government with a bruise around his right eye.

Mr. Musk later explained that it was his 5-year-old son who punched him in the face at his own request, but this detail only fueled the rumor.

Snopes said it has reached out to Mr. and Mrs. Miller and billionaire Musk to verify the rumors regarding their relationship, and said the site will update if it receives a response.
