There may be a Manchester Derby on the horizon, but Pep Guardiola can’t switch off, not even on the golf course.

The multiple-title-winning Manchester City manager will lead his side out at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they host city rivals Manchester United.

Still, he has found some time to sneak some time in on the golf course.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Spaniard was spotted out and about at Wentworth, where the BMW Championship is taking place, as he walked the course with his good friend and PGA winner Tommy Fleetwood.

Pep Guardiola gives Tommy Fleetwood a golfing ‘Pep Talk’

Pep Guardiola has been known for his intense but undoubtedly successful coaching style since he made waves with Barcelona, and that energy transcends sports, too, it would appear.

The PGA Tour winner is playing with musician Tom Grennan in Wednesday’s Pro-Am at the tournament, before teeing it up with fellow Team Europe member Justin Rose and current BMW Champion Billy Horschel on Thursday.

After Tommy Fleetwood teed off on a practice hole, the former Bayern Munich boss immediately had some constructive criticism for the sixth-best-ranked golfer in the world.

“You lifted your head,” asserted Guardiola, who was just walking with the group, not playing himself.

Fleetwood, a little humorously it would appear, said it was something he couldn’t help, and seems in good spirits ahead a crucial week of Ryder Cup strategising.

That wasn’t the only moment that pair were having some in-depth chats at Wentworth.

Guardiola is well known for his animated style on the touchline, constantly jumping around his technical area and gesticulating wildly throughout the 90 minutes.

Apparently, that’s just how he is all the time, too.

Fleetwood is taking it all in, that’s for sure.

The pair are good friends and have golfed together on numerous occasions, but you do wonder if Fleetwood would be as bold as Guardiola and tell the manager how to use Tijjani Reijnders to exploit half spaces in front of the United backline, don’t you?
