Scottie Scheffler fuming with rules official after being put on clock at BMW Championship
Scottie Scheffler revealed his frustration to reporters after he and Robert MacIntyre were put on the clock at the BMW Championship.
Scottie Scheffler was fuming with a PGA Tour rules official after he and Robert MacIntyre were put on the clock during the third round of the BMW Championship at Caves Valley.
Scheffler and MacIntyre were playing in the final group of the third round and they were initially warned about behind on the clock when they made the turn.
The group was then told they were on the clock by the time they headed down the 12th.
That did not sit well with either Scheffler or MacIntyre.
Scheffler felt his group had been keeping up with the pace of play well.
After being put on the clock, Scheffler proceeded to make a bogey.
That further added to his frustation.

Scheffler was pressed on the topic after the round.
And even then he was still miffed.
“Yeah. I mean, it’s frustrating,” said Scheffler.
“I didn’t really feel like I did anything to put us behind on time.
“Bob and I got warned on No. 9, and I felt like we did some pretty good stuff on 9, 10 and 11 and we somehow didn’t gain a single second on pace of play.
“I’m not really sure how that’s possible.”
Watch Scheffler’s reaction after having been told his group was being put on the clock on the 12th:
MacIntyre carded a 68 to take a four-shot lead over Scheffler into Sunday’s final round.
The Scot is looking to capture his PGA Tour hat-trick and win his first title of the season.
Scheffler is going in search of his 18th career title and fifth of the year.
During the third round, the live broadcast added a new pace chart to see how out of position a number of groups were.
They chose to display the graphic while a certain Patrick Cantlay was about to play.
Cantlay, known as one of the more deliberate players on the PGA Tour, was playing alongside Shane Lowry.
