Riley Green Is Pursuing Acting, In Addition To Becoming A Country Music Superstar

Riley Green is ready to expand his career beyond country music. The 36-year-old reveals he hopes to soon see his name in the credits for a film or TV show. In fact, Green has already tried out for a few jobs, waiting for the right role to come along.

“We’ve actually kind of gone down that road a little bit,” Green reveals. “I’ve read for a couple of shows here lately. And not that I have a lot of time for it, but I think it is something that I would enjoy, and also something I think could help my music career. I mean, obviously, doing Yellowstone was a great launching pad for Lainey [Wilson] as well. And the Country and Western thing is becoming so popular through those shows that it’s really just such a great tie in. I’m just glad that it’s helping out country music.”

Green has already showed off his acting chops in his music videos. He also recently starred as a hotel receptionist in a hilarious skit, proving he isn’t afraid to poke fun at himself.

Riley Green’s Path To Country Music

Green could still be framing houses instead of enjoying a career in country music. The “Worst Way” singer was enjoying a successful career in construction, while performing on the side, when a chance gig changed everything for him.

“I was playing a Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville, Alabama every week for about $150 a night,” Johnson shares on Southern Living‘s Biscuits & Jam podcast (via Country Now). “And there would be 50, 60 people in there. I did that for about eight years.”

But when the owner of Iron City, in Birmingham, invited Green to perform, his entire focus changed in one night.

“I said, ‘Man, that place holds 1,300 people. It’ll be empty, you know?’”Green recalls. “And finally he talked me into coming down there, and I think it was 1,260 people showed up. I had no clue anybody knew who I was in Birmingham. So it was kind of an eye-opening moment that I might have a chance to have a career in music. ‘Cause I was just doing it on the weekends, when I wasn’t framing houses, as a hobby.”
