Kelly Clarkson Reveals How Shes Finding Joy Following the Loss of Her Husband
Kelly Clarkson’s husband, Brandon Blackstock passed away in late-2025. During a recent Q&A, Kelly discussed how she’s trying to find joy
Kelly Clarkson has opened up about how she and her two children are dealing with the loss of Brandon Blackstock. Kelly has two sons by Brandon, who passed award in 2025, at the age of 48.
The update came via Kelly’s YouTube page, where she was hosting a Q&A for her fanbase. The question that led her to open up was simple enough, asking what brings joy into Kelly’s life. Her response? “Snuggles.”

“There’s been a lot for our family recently and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit. It’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot,” Kelly said. “It’s been really special though because the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that’s probably my favorite of day.”
Kelly appeared in good spirits throughout the Q&A, even joking that her children are in a fun stage, where they still love snuggles but can handle some of the less glamorous areas of parenthood on their own.
Losing a loved one is never easy. Grief is a highly individualistic journey. So, if Kelly has found her safe space, and it’s also helping the children process through their own fears and emotions, then it’s a win-win for everyone involved. Of course, it helps that the whole thing is super cute.
Kelly Clarkson Lost Her Husband to Cancer
Brandon’s death came after a reported battle with cancer. Shortly after his passing, his family released a statement via PEOPLE.
“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,” the statement read. “He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

Following Brandon’s death, Kelly postponed her Vegas shows, giving her fans a rare glimpse into her personal life in the process.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,”
Kelly and Brandon married in 2013. They had two children together.
