Mr. Trump said Taylor Swift is ‘no longer famous.’
U.S. President Donald Trump believes that singer Taylor Swift is no longer as popular as she used to be after he declared his dislike for her last year.
On Truth Social on May 16, Donald Trump wrote: “Has anyone noticed that since I posted ‘I hate Taylor Swift,’ she is no longer ‘famous’?” It is currently unclear why the president is targeting Taylor Swift.

For the first time, the U.S. President expressed his attitude towards an artist in September 2024 after a post by Taylor Swift on Instagram. At that time, the singer opposed him sharing AI-generated images of her fans campaigning for him in the presidential race on Truth Social. Meanwhile, the artist publicly supported Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, his opponent at the time.
The day after, on the Fox & Friends program, he said, “I’m not a fan of Taylor Swift. It’s just a matter of time. But she is a very Democratic person. She always seems to side with a Democrat. She may pay for that decision in the music market.”
A few days after the interview, he drew attention by declaring “I hate Taylor Swift” on his Truth Social account, without further explanation or comment.
Taylor Swift was born in 1989 and is dubbed the “princess of country music” in the U.S. after debuting at the age of 16. In 2014, she transitioned to pop music, making a mark with her album 1989. Over nearly 20 years in the industry, she has received 14 Grammy Awards, 30 VMAs, and has organized several major tours, such as The Eras Tour. The revenue from the tour has helped her join the ranks of billionaires with a net worth of $1.6 billion, according to Forbes.
Recently, she was honored as the Global Recording Artist of the Year for 2024, thanks to having the highest music sales in the world for the year. On March 17, The Eras Tour received the Century Tour title at the iHeart Radio Music Award ceremony. She is currently dating football player Travis Kelce, who is the same age as her.
After the tour concluded, she took time to rest and rarely appeared in public. The last time fans saw the singer was when she went out to dinner with her boyfriend’s family on Mother’s Day, May 11.
