Who Is the “Racist Country Singer” That Paramore’s Hayley Williams Mentions in Her New Song?

Any guesses on who the “racist country singer” that Hayley Williams references on the song “Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party” is?

Hayley Williams

Weeks after Hayley Williams’ untitled 17-track solo album debuted, listeners have questions.

Many have remarked about the songwriter’s unusual release strategy. On July 28, 2025, the album first became available online through a website linked to her hair dye brand. It was her first release after leaving major label Atlantic Records. Fans have unofficially called the collection ‘Ego.’

In August, Williams released all 17 songs as individual singles on streaming services. Now that anyone with a Spotify account can listen, fans are sharing their reactions and making their own interpretations. But the one question that seems to be on everyone’s mind is this:

Who is the “racist country singer” Williams references in the song “Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party”?

Hayley Williams Left Us A Couple Clues

Williams grew up near Nashville, and many believe the song is her take on the scene in Music City. The “racist country singer” is mentioned in the first line of the track:

I’ll be the biggest star at this racist country singer’s bar
No use shootin’ for the moon, no use chasing waterfalls
I’m the biggest star at this racist country singer’s bar
No use shootin’ for the moon, no use chasing waterfalls.

The first name that comes to mind is Morgan Wallen.

What makes us think it’s the “Superman” singer?

Well, he did open a bar last year. Morgan Wallen’s This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen in downtown Nashville, to be exact. But there were a few snags before it opened.

The company that runs the establishment had reached out to the city council for permission to use a neon sign. The council denied the request. They cited Wallen’s previous controversial behavior of using racial slurs and throwing chairs as the reason. The council eventually reversed its decision, as Wallen has apologized for his inappropriate comments and cooperated with authorities after pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charges stemming from the chair-throwing incident.

Given the evidence, Wallen seems like a reasonable guess.

There’s One More Singer No One Is Talking About

In 2019, TC Restaurant Group, the owner of Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar, was accused of turning customers away due to race. As Fox 17 reported, the company issued a statement regarding the accusations.

“We strive to be one of the most welcoming establishments in Nashville and are horrified by these reports,” the statement read. “Our leadership team is investigating this situation and will take action should we find that any of our employees or third-party security contractors violated our policies. We appreciate those who have brought this to our attention.”

Aldean has also come under fire for his behavior. In addition to wearing clothing with a Confederate flag and sporting blackface for Halloween in 2015, critics have said his song “Try That in a Small Town” contains racist undertones. Aldean has denied the claims.

At press time, Williams has not revealed the name of the singer she refers to in the song.
