NBC Rep Breaks Silence Over Morgan Wallen Awkwardly Walking of ‘Saturday Night Live’ Stage

Country star Morgan Wallen admits to chucking a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar nearly hitting two cops

No matter how far Morgan Wallen wanted to get away from rumors and drama, the country singer can’t seem to escape headlines. While once finding himself at the center of legal trouble, Wallen appeared to learn his lesson and remained focused on his music. And on Saturday, he traveled to New York to be the musical guest for Saturday Night Live. Although offering a great performance, Wallen left the stage a little early, causing what seemed to be the entire internet to explode. With almost every fan weighing in on Wallen’s exit, an NBC representative decided to clear the air once and for all.

For any fan who watched Wallen on SNL, they know the exact moment when the singer offered the host Mikey Madison a hug and left the stage before the cameras cut. Over the next couple of days, fans discussed the move and whether there was any bad blood between Wallen and SNL. Well, according to an NBC rep, “(Wallen) had been on the ‘SNL’ set since Thursday and he knew all the jokes that were in the show. There was no tension.”

As for the motivation behind his quick exit, that was what Wallen thought he was expected to do. “We’re told everyone was friendly and having a good time. And Morgan even left the same way he came in for rehearsals, thinking that was the move.”

Fans Weigh In On Morgan Wallen Leaving ‘Saturday Night Live’ Early

Finally getting to the bottom of the moment, not every fan believed the representative. One person posted a TikTok video explaining how they were there that night and what they saw. “I was there last night! Lorne snubbed him. Mikey walked to the stage at the end and Lorne hugged her, then when Morgan came towards the stage Lorne turned his back and walked away. It was an obvious and purposeful move.”

The person continued, noting how the cast even treated Wallen differently. “The cast couldn’t be further back on the stage if they tried. Apparently it’s a thing they do when they don’t like the guest. I thought Morgan did an amazing job and hate there is such a riff about him being there. Great show though! Super funny skits!”

No matter what went down on SNL, one thing remained certain, Wallen put on a great performance of “I’m The Problem.”
