Nancy, the widow of the late country music star George Jones, is being sued by her ex-boyfriend for failing to pay him “compensation for emotional support” over the past 12 years.

This comes after he allegedly stole $400,000 in cash and a Ledger cryptocurrency wallet from two safes inside her home.

Nancy Jones

Last July, we reported that Nancy Jones, widow of the late country music star George Jones, had crypto and cash reportedly worth millions stolen from her.

Kirk West, Jones’ ex-boyfriend, was taken into custody at Nashville International Airport on Thursday, July 24. It followed Nancy’s submission of a theft report two days earlier. It said that West stole approximately $400,000 in cash and a Ledger cryptocurrency wallet from two safes inside her Franklin home, which she discovered missing the month before.

West was arrested and charged with theft of over $250,000, a Class A felony in Tennessee. Following these events, West is now countersuing Nancy, claiming he is entitled to half of her “cryptocurrency, cash and precious metals” as they were romantically involved for 12 years.

This countersuit, which accuses Nancy of conversion, defamation, and abusing the legal process, was filed on Jan. 9, according to a report by The Tennessean.

How Did Nancy Jones and Kirk West Meet

Supposedly, West played an unknown role in the opening of the George Jones Museum over a decade ago. The venue was eventually sold to an investment group.

Nancy became involved with West in late 2013, four months after George’s death, according to court documents. The two began a friendship, which eventually became romantic. Nancy learned from their conversations that, at that time, West was “penniless” and had no home.

Jones began to have concerns that West might be unfaithful. On June 26, she reportedly asked her granddaughter to secure cash and jewelry stored in a safe in Jones’ home. The granddaughter then noticed that $400,000 and approximately 5,534,307 units of the digital currency XRP were missing from the safe. The crypto was valued at $11,622,044.70 at the time.

Documents state that two days after the missing valuables were discovered, she had kicked West out of her home. He then called her to say he would return $5 million of the money, but no more.

What Are the Details of West’s Countersuit?

In his countersuit, West disputes the state of his finances when he first met Nancy. He also asserts that by the time he began managing her finances, it became difficult to separate her money from his.

Based on this financial intermingling, West now claims he is entitled to half of the contested assets. The suit also alleges that the couple agreed to split things evenly when they broke up, though Nancy’s suit does not mention that agreement.

The countersuit also alleges that Nancy subjected West to “wrath, public hatred, contempt, or ridicule, or deprived him of the benefits of public confidence or social interaction.”
