Morgan Wallen Proposed to His Ex-Fiancée With a $75 Engagement Ring in the JCPenny Parking Lot

On Bunnie XO’s podcast, Morgan Wallen’s ex-fiance KT Smith told the story of how he really proposed to her. Read more below.
Right now, he’s the subject of Megan Moroney dating rumors and taking over country with his I’m The Problem Tour. But back then, Morgan Wallen was 24 and engaged to be married to his longtime girlfriend, KT Smith.
KT and Morgan had been in an on-again, off-again relationship before he popped the question in 2017. On an episode of the Bunnie XO podcast, Smith revealed that she was head over heels for Wallen. So much so, that it seemed a proposal in the parking lot of a JCPenney didn’t even change that.
Smith shared, “I thought he hung the moon and the stars. Like everything that he did, I was amazed by.” She went on to tell the story of her engagement. “I had to go to work right after that, so we had about five minutes, and in the parking lot, he said, ‘Are we gonna do this or what?’”
Apparently, all it took was a $75 Swarovski ring, and KT and Wallen were set on getting hitched. “My ring was from what’s that store in the mall? Swarovski. It was like a $75 ring. I didn’t care,” the influencer explained. “I was just like, I don’t want a big ring. It was like the whole, you could give me a ring pop thing, and I wouldn’t care.”
Morgan Wallen on Co-Parenting Indigo Wilder
Even though the couple never got married, to this day, they share a son, Indigo Wilder. On the podcast, KT remarked that Morgan was “a great dad”, but has previously shared that he “wasn’t the most faithful” at times on tour.
On her blog, KT revealed how co-parenting their son actually helped her to gain respect for her ex-fiancé. “Co-parenting with Morgan at the beginning was extremely difficult because it was very new to both of us, and I was still bitter towards him. After time passed and Indie became my life, I felt truly healed.”
Now, Smith is married to Luke Scornovacco, an influencer, whom she got back together with in April. Even though co-parenting isn’t how Morgan Wallen anticipated his family life would look, as he told People in 2024, he shared on Instagram that he was dedicated to being “the Dad [Indigo deserves] as well as the co-parent [his] mother deserves.”
Indigo Wilder is currently 5 years old.
