How George Strait Eased the Mind of Miranda Lambert’s Father Over Her First Tattoo

It is a common theme that many parents don’t want their children to get tattoos. Surely, you’ve heard this from your own parents or somebody else’s, and guess what, so has Miranda Lambert. Miranda Lambert has never been one to shy away from her ink, though, there was a point in her life where her tattoos did entail repercussions. Specifically, repercussions that came from her father.

Lambert has been very open about her eight tattoos and has explained the personal significance behind them several times. Matter of fact, she told People, “It represents a lot of things in my life,” regarding her queen of hearts tattoo. However, there was a time when her tattoos weren’t so popular, and that was when she got her first one at 22 years old.

Miranda Lambert and Her Father’s Furious Reaction

At 22 years old Miranda Lambert toured with George Strait and was drinking the rock star Kool-Aid. Frankly, at 22 years old, how could you not? That being so, Lambert got her first tattoo, which is a design that features two pistols with wings. As cool as that sounds and looks, Lambert’s father, Richard Lee Lambert, was not happy with the decision whatsoever.

In an interview with USA Weekend via The Boot, Miranda Lambert recalled the story behind her first tattoo and how her touring partner, George Strait, came to her aid. She recalled, “It’s the first thing I ever did without asking my parents. My dad didn’t speak to me for a week.”

In a celebratory post featured on Strait’s X account, Miranda Lambert stated, “Somehow George found out about the drama between me and my dad, and he sent out for like 75 press-on tattoos, fake tattoos. “And we went in to take our end-of-tour picture, and the whole group – like 60 people – all had fake tattoos. My dad started laughing, and my dad even had one.” Lambert added, “I like to say that George Strait helped mend my Dad and I’s relationship over the tattoo incident,” added Lambert.

George Strait has lived an incredibly legendary life, though, even his star status does not interfere with random acts of kindness such as this one. Since touring together, Lambert and Strait have remained friends and fellow country music contemporaries, and it is seemingly all centered around the time George Strait swooped into to save the day.
