Melania’s personal plea to Putin revealed in letter handed to Russian leader by Trump
The first lady urged Putin, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court under accusations of war crimes, to protect “the innocence” of the world’s children by moving toward peace with Ukraine

Melania Trump reportedly wrote an emotional appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him to protect children and “restore their melodic laughter.”
The “peace letter” was reportedly hand-delivered to Putin by President Donald Trump before their summit in Alaska on Friday, which ended early as a dejected Trump appeared to fail to come to a concrete agreement on a path toward an end to the war with Ukraine.
“Dear President Putin,” begins the letter, which Fox News Digital obtained. “Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.”

“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope,” the first lady wrote. “As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few.”
“Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all—so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded,” read the letter. “A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation’s descendants begin their lives with a purity—an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology.”
“Yet, in today’s world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them—a silent defiance against the forces that can potentially claim their future,” she wrote.
“Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter,” the first lady wrote. “In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone—you serve humanity itself.”
“Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today. It is time.”

Putin, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court under accusations of war crimes, reportedly read the letter immediately upon receiving it. The Mirror US has contacted the White House for additional information about the letter.
During his 2024 campaign, Trump said that the Ukraine-Russia conflict would be solved on his first day in office in January. Now, in the middle of August, he has made little headway in catalyzing moves toward peace between the two nations.
Putin has ignored Trump’s escalating threats that he would invoke sanctions on Russia if it did not take steps to move toward a ceasefire, and continued to bombard Ukrainian troops on Friday night after the summit in Anchorage.
By Saturday morning, Trump appeared to have abandoned the idea of a ceasefire as a step toward peace — something he and Ukraine had pushed for months — in favor of pursuing a full-fledged “Peace Agreement” to end the war, echoing a long-held Kremlin position. The “severe consequences” he threatened against Moscow for continuing hostilities were nowhere in sight, according to The Associated Press.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly stated that Kyiv will not cede any territory to Russia, nor abandon its NATO ambitions or allow restrictions on its armed forces, three of the conditions the Kremlin has repeatedly stated are mandatory parts of its “peace agreement” proposal.
