Amen to that, Megan…

This weekend, Megan Moroney is the guest on iHeartCountry House Party, and in a clip shared to social media ahead of the full conversation airing this weekend, she spoke about how the women in country music are killing it right now… which is in large part thanks to artists like herself, as well as other mainstream stars like Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson, just to name a few.

In fact, those three ladies were tied as the most-nominated artists at the CMA Awards this year, and have been absolutely killing it with country radio hits, and sold-out tours all over the world.

Ella is already having a massive year, as her song “Choosin’ Texas” is at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart right now, making her one of only 12 women this century to land a top-10 country hit on the all-genre chart. Lainey is the reigning Entertainer of the Year, and it’s really been cool to watch each of them rise to stardom and do it their own way with their own style.

It’s a testament to their own hard work, as well as the women who laid the ground work and came before them, and Megan explained how “amazing” it is to see so many ladies in the genre crushing it, including many of the women I didn’t mentioned prior who also make great country music:

“I think it’s amazing. We all have such distinct lanes too, and a unique perspective that I think just feels really authentic and thanks to social media, we can promote ourselves and get the word out abut our music that way. It’s just really cool to see so many women killing it, you know?”

She added that they’re “giving the guys a run for their money,” and I wholeheartedly agree:

“It’s like, we’re giving the guys a run for their money. We’re like, ‘Hello, we’re here. We’re very much here.’”

As they should be… I also want to point out that, even when many online want to spin narratives that certain women don’t like each other, and speculate about drama they really don’t know anything about, it’s refreshing to see Megan uplift her female counterparts and acknowledge their success.

Lainey called out the internet trolls during her recent Female Artist of the Year speech, and I think it’s really cool to see all of them supporting each other, whether or not they have had their own differences or issues in their personal lives.

They’re all immensely talented, and I’m a fan of all three ladies, who are making all of us look good and I can’t wait to see what else they accomplish this year:

Megan will release her third studio album Cloud 9 in February, then hit the road on the supporting tour in May which runs until October and also includes quite a few European dates.
