On March 28, a large number of protesters took to the streets across the United States to protest against President Donald Trump, expressing their outrage at what they consider to be his authoritarian leadership, hardline immigration policies, and the trade war with Iran, according to AFP.

Organizers of the March 28 protests estimated that “at least 8 million people gathered today at more than 3,300 events across all 50 states,” from major cities to small towns, according to AFP. US officials did not provide an estimate of nationwide participation.

In New York, America’s most populous city, tens of thousands of protesters gathered, including Robert De Niro, the veteran Oscar-winning actor who has frequently criticized Trump .

Protests took place from Atlanta to San Diego, and Alaskans also joined in late on March 28 (US time). “We’re out on the streets because we feel the Constitution is being threatened in various ways. Things aren’t normal,” 36-year-old veteran Marc McCaughey told AFP in Atlanta.

In the town of West Bloomfield, Michigan, people took to the streets to protest despite sub-freezing temperatures. And in Washington, D.C., thousands of marchers flocked to the National Mall.

This is the third time in less than a year that Americans have taken to the streets to participate in the “No King” movement, the strongest and most visual form of protest against President Trump since he began his second term in January 2025, according to AFP.

The wave of protests against Trump has spread beyond the borders of the United States, with demonstrations taking place in European cities such as Amsterdam, Madrid, and Rome on March 28.

President Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 36%, the lowest level since his return to the White House, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

There has been no response from the White House regarding these protests yet.
