They always say that childbirth is a miracle.

In the literal sense, they’re correct, bringing life into this world after months of carrying them around, it’s a beautiful part of life. However, it can also be deeply terrifying, like the case for American Idol contestant and Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter Emmy Russell. She was on the brink of death when bringing her first child into the world.

Recently, Emmy’s partner Tyler Ward posted on Instagram, welcoming their baby into the world.

However, he also informs everyone how the beautiful moment also could’ve went horribly wrong. Russell needed a blood transfusion due to the blood she lost during the birth. “Just wanna update everybody.

Emmy can’t post so I’m posting on her behalf. We got to the hospital Wednesday evening when Emmy’s water broke,” Ward says. “Gave birth Friday morning at 2:30 am and it was a really really tough situation. And she’s still here in the hospital. We almost got discharged. And then this.”

Afterwards, Russell finally recovers and lends further detail into how dire the childbirth could’ve been in a separate post. Moreover, she also explains how the transfusion left her weak physically and mentally.

“I just wanna update you that I got the blood transfusion. I feel so much better. Still pretty weak today, but I had to get two full bags of blood. I lost 1.6 liters, so more than a liter,” Emmy reveals.

“I thought it was just a liter. And they didn’t catch it. So I was there every day, really weak, and so I’ve been missing out on the baby and holding her,” Russell adds.

“Been having mental breakdowns like every five seconds, you know, trying to breastfeed and then it just like being hard cause I just did not have any energy, and the guilt that comes with that.”
