Lainey Wilson Blasts Naysayers Who Invent Rivalry Between Female Country Stars: “Y’all Need To Find Something Better To Do”

Lainey Wilson wins entertainer of the year at 2025 CMA Awards

Lainey Wilson had a night she and we will never forget at the 59th CMA Awards on November 19. She did an outstanding job of hosting the celebratory event solo. The “Somewhere Over Laredo” singer was vivacious, gracious, and lively, infusing the occasion with her easygoing charm and wit. She picked up honors for Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Whirlwind, and Entertainer of the Year. All were well-deserved for the hard-working artist.

But she also lambasted those who concoct rivalry between female country singers. Wilson pointed out the strong sense of community that binds these talented, caring ladies.

Wilson Thanked Female Country Singers Who Kindly Reached Out to Her

In her speech accepting the Female Vocalist of the Year award, Lainey Wilson, 33,

“>spoke movingly of her gratitude. She peppered her remarks with the names of women in country music who lifted her up. “It’s a good night. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you so much. My gosh, I was not prepared for this at all. But I will say, I’m so proud to be in this category with these women. Miranda, you have poured into me.”

As she said those words from the stage, the camera briefly cut to Lambert in the audience. Looking a bit teary-eyed, she silently mouthed “I love you” to Wilson.

She added, “You have sat around a fire with me and told me what to do, what not to do, and it is because of women like you… I mean, Dolly and Reba, all of the ladies have poured into me. Hillary, you have poured into me, Barbara Mandrell texted me back there, has poured into me.”

Wilson continued, “Jo Dee Messina texted me a three-minute prayer this morning lifting me up, and that’s what it’s about girls.”

Her Stinging Rebuke To Nasty Skeptics

Wilson got in this blistering retort to people who stir up trouble where none exists. “I just want to say, find those people that lift you up and encourage you and pray for you, pray with you. Love on you, on the good days, on the bad days, all of it. And for the folks that are sitting at home in your mama’s basement eating your Cheetos trying to pit women against each other, y’all need to find something better to do.”
