A long-standing restaurant in Greece has suddenly become the center of controversy after sharing Kylie Jenner’s visit and calling it an “honor”.

On July 12, Kylie Jenner – the 27-year-old reality TV star – had dinner at the Tassia restaurant in Fiscardo village, Kefalonia island (Greece). Afterwards, the restaurant’s owners, Mr. Polychronis Dendrinos and Ms. Tassia Dendrinou, posted a thank you post on Instagram, calling Jenner “an iconic businesswoman and global trendsetter”.

“She was an inspirational guest, one of the most influential women of her generation. She experienced our Greek hospitality and cuisine. It was an honor to welcome such a special guest,” the post read.

Jenner also posted a photo with her close friend Anastasia Karanikolaou dining by the harbor, where the restaurant is located, which is more than 50 years old. Tassia is known for its home-cooked food and ingredients from local gardens or suppliers.

However, the restaurant’s post has received mixed reactions, with many netizens criticizing the excessive praise of Kylie Jenner.

“Honour? She found a cure for cancer?” one person commented sarcastically.

“Just a girl who got a lot of plastic surgery and made girls lose confidence in their appearance?”, or “Just say ‘Thank you Kylie Jenner for visiting’ is enough.”

Some even called for a boycott of the restaurant: “Thank you, now I know where to avoid.”

On the contrary, some netizens said the wave of criticism was unreasonable.

“People post to thank customers and get hate, it’s ridiculous,” one commenter wrote.

“If Kylie came to my restaurant, I would post it too,” another account expressed.

Before Kylie Jenner, the restaurant Tassia had welcomed many famous people such as basketball star Magic Johnson, actress Demi Moore, actor Samuel L. Jackson, Queen Camilla’s son, Diesel brand founder and former US senator Bob Menendez.

Jenner is on vacation in Europe after attending the lavish $56 million wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. She and her best friend Anastasia Karanikolaou relax on a yacht, enjoy cocktails and post travel photos on social media.

Jenner and Karanikolaou met in 2010 when they were in high school in Calabasas, USA. In 2019, they both got tattoos of the word “Stormi” – the name of Kylie’s first daughter with rapper Travis Scott – as a symbol of their friendship.

Jenner currently has two children: Stormi (7) and Aire (3). After splitting from Travis Scott in 2022, she is dating actor Timothée Chalamet. The couple officially appeared together on the red carpet in Rome (Italy) in May this year.
