Kid Rock Reveals His One Breaking Point With Donald Trump

Kid Rock says Donald Trump sought his advice on North Korea and Islamic State | Kid Rock | The Guardian

Kid Rock made an extravagant appearance on an edition of Real Time with Bill Maher , in which they talked about everything, including Kendrick Lamar ‘s Super Bowl performance and, obviously, politics. It was then that Rock revealed the breaking point that would lead him to dissent from his support for Donald Trump.

Amidst laughter and jokes, Bill Maher mentioned the repeated occasions on which Trump has joked about a third presidency. Kid Rock said he had not heard this, but did say that Trump is a very funny person and loves to joke. However, Maher asked Rock directly if he would have a problem if the jokes became true.

“If he was, would that be a breaking point for you?” Maher asked Rock. “Would there be anything that would change your mind? If he said, ‘I’m going to go against our Constitution, which we’ve had for many years; you can’t run for a third term.’ If he said, ‘No, I’m staying,’ would that change your mind?”

Rock, surprisingly, answered Maher’s question directly and honestly.

“Under the current circumstances, if things continue the way they’ve been going, yes,” Rock said. “If he said, ‘I’m running for a third term,’ I’d say, ‘Whoa, whoa, slow down a little bit, man. Wait a second.’”

Maher, stunned, asked, “So, he could lose Kid Rock?”

And Rock, being Rock, answered with humor, trying to dispel the seriousness in which the conversation had become entangled.

“It would be very difficult,” Rock replied. “It would be very, very difficult. Very, very difficult. I’ve told you before, which will probably come as a surprise to your audience: I don’t like Trump.” However, Kid Rock added: “I love Trump.”

Kid Rock and Kendrick Lamar

Trump wasn’t the only topic of conversation during Rock’s appearance on Maher’s show. Kid Rock also spoke about Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance. While he expressed his respect for Lamar, he said both he and Jay-Z had Colin Kaepernick to thank, who he said paved the way for a performance he described as “the epitome of DEI.”

“This was the epitome of DEI blowing up,” Rock said. “Because the NFL was into this whole DEI thing, ending racism, all that stuff. They brought in Jay-Z to organize this. Kendrick Lamar comes out there and basically turns DEI into an IED.”
