“Give Your Life To Jesus” – Kid Rock Honors Charlie Kirk With Newly-Written Verse To Cody Johnson’s “Til You Can’t” At Hondo Rodeo Fest

Honoring Charlie Kirk while covering a true patriot’s song.
Over the weekend, Phoenix, Arizona, was rocking and rolling during the second annual Hondo Rodeo Fest. Over the weekend, Jon Pardi, Riley Green, Jason Aldean, and Nickelback hit the stage at the rodeo and music festival event. Cody Johnson was also initially slated to headline Saturday night’s performance, but due to a burst eardrum that led to recent surgery, Kid Rock stepped in to fill his place.
Kid Rock put on one heck of a show, as he usually does, bringing his Detroit Cowboy energy to Chase Field. However, given he was a fill-in for the Texas native, Cody Johnson, he slowed down his set during a portion of his time on stage to deliver a stunning acoustic cover of the fan favorite tune “‘Til You Can’t.”
Kid Rock and Cody Johnson are both patriots who often speak their minds about what they believe is right and wrong in our nation. Most nights, Cody Johnson hits the stage, he takes time to preach to his crowd that, no matter what your viewpoints are, we should all be thankful that we live in a free nation, and that we are free because an American soldier risked their life, and many have lost their lives, for our freedoms.
Kid Rock’s soulful acoustic rendition of the song beautifully honored Cody Johnson, and he, too, took a moment to preach to his audience like Johnson does, sharing that something was weighing heavily on his heart. After singing the first half of the song, Kid Rock pauses and shares with the crowd that he felt like he was called to add a verse to “‘Til You Can’t.”
“And in that moment, someone or something spoke to me and told me there was still a verse missing from this song, and to get up and write it down. So I did. And now, I know exactly who was speaking to me that morning.”
Rock then goes into singing the verse he thinks should be added to the song. Going back to Kid Rock’s first words, it seems he feels like God spoke to him, compelling him to continue sharing the word of the Lord through this added verse, preaching the same message Charlie did at many of his live speaking events.
As he sings this verse and the remainder of the song, an image of Charlie Kirk is flashed on the screen behind Kid Rock.
“There’s a book that is sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off. There’s a man that died for all our sins, hanging on the cross. You can give your life to Jesus, and he’ll give you a second chance, ’til you can’t.”
Rock then sings the remainder of the song as Johnson sings it:
“Yeah, if you got a chance, take it (take it), take it while you got a chanceIf you got a dream, chase it, ’cause a dream won’t chase you backIf you’re gonna love somebodyHold ’em as long and as strong and as close as you canUntil you can’t‘Til you can’tYeah, take it…”
A powerful performance, and bravo for tipping his hat to Cody Johnson, and paying homage to Charlie Kirk.

Kid Rock Calls The Mainstream Media “Public Enemy #1”
As previously mentioned, Kid Rock has never shied away from sharing his thoughts, whether people agree with him or not.
After the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Kid Rock shared with Jesse Watters of Fox News that he believed the liberal media that spread lies about Charlie and what he stood for were at fault for his murder.
“I’ve said it and I’ll say it again because I think it needs to be echoed until they get it through their fat skulls, the mainstream media is public enemy number one right now… I’m someone who understands better than anyone as being a very vocal Trump supporter since day 1. They’ve called me a racist Nazi for years now, go look up a few facts about my life, my children, where I grew up, everything… but other people start to echo this. People who write dumb articles who think I’m trash, and I hate my music, and they say he’s just a racist Nazi.
It starts to build and build and build and build and you’ve got these nut-house kids who sit around playing video games and watching occult movies on streaming services, instead of going outside and playing sports or doing something productive. Then they think, ‘I’ll do something good. I’ll go kill a Nazi. I’ll kill a racist.’ And they’re literally mentally deranged.”
He’s not wrong…
Kid Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, went on to say there is, of course, some extremism on the right, but the majority of the hate and the unwillingness to hear out the other side comes from the left. He also pointed out the hypocrisy of how much they preach “inclusivity,” when the reality is that this alleged “inclusivity” only extends to their particular belief system. Fall in line and you’ll be “included,” right?
“Nobody wants an all out war. We understand that everyone on the left is not sick, but there are enough people in the media and enough of these crazy liberals, too, that just create this big echo chamber, and I’m not saying there aren’t crazy right-wingers… but they’re supposed to be this “inclusive,” and they’re the ones who won’t talk and get along with anyone. Won’t even sit down and break bread.”
He went on to warn people that if violence continues, and people continue to celebrate the murder of Charlie Kirk, it could get ugly:
“You’re gonna keep it up, and you’re gonna run into the wrong people. Some people I know, that aren’t gonna play that mess. And it’s not gonna be pretty. It’s gonna be very ugly.”
That’s the last thing we need right now. Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk.
