Katy Perry is the first artist to successfully complete a space flight.

According to Page Six, Katy Perry is one of six members of the all-female crew participating in the NS-31 mission, the 11th human spaceflight of Blue Origin, founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos. The rocket carrying the top pop star, MC Gayle King, former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, Vietnamese-American human rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn and Lauren Sánchez – billionaire Jeff Bezos’s fiancee – was launched at 8:30 a.m. (local time) from Blue Origin’s facility in West Texas (USA) and flew to the Kármá line – the space boundary 62 miles (100 km) from Earth.

During the time in the air, the crew members had a few minutes to experience the zero-gravity environment, viewing the Earth against a dark background. The vehicle was reported to have landed safely after about 11 minutes, from takeoff and landing. After completing the trip, Katy Perry could not hide her excitement and emotion. She kissed daisies, then knelt down to kiss the ground after leaving the aircraft. This image of the female singer went viral all over the internet.

Sharing with the media after the “historic” trip in her life, Katy Perry called it the “highest flight” she had ever experienced. This journey helped her feel love more clearly and the singer plans to compose a piece to tell the audience about this trip. According to Katy Perry, her daughter was also present at the rocket launch site to follow her mother’s journey.

Katy Perry said she was happy to fulfill her 15-year dream of flying into space.

However, this space flight did not receive widespread public support. Many people believe that this is just a commercial flight, PR for the Blue Origin company rather than marking a milestone for feminism, encouraging the younger generation and especially women to pursue the field of aeronautics and space science.

Actress Olivia Munn called Blue Origin’s human space flight “meaningless” on NBC’s Today with Jenna & Friends: “There are so many more important and worthwhile things to do in the world today. I wonder what people without that expertise are doing in space?”.

On social networks, netizens and even Hollywood colleagues also spoke sarcastically about Katy Perry’s short space trip doing nothing meaningful other than filming and taking pictures to show off. They also mocked the top singer’s act of kissing the ground as if she had been away from Earth for a long time as “overdoing it”.

Actress Olivia Wilde re-shared Katy Perry’s hilarious viral photo after her space flight and mocked her colleague for wasting money: “Spending billions of dollars just to get a few memes?”. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga mocked: “I’ll **** *** for even longer than that.” The singer has now deleted this post on her personal page.
