“Who’s The Moron Now?” – Chris Janson Goes Off On Jimmy Kimmel, Who Once Made Fun Of His Song “Good Vibes,” After His Show Was Canceled

ABC/Chris Janson
Tell us how you really feel, Chris Janson.
The 39-year-old country music singer from Missouri didn’t hold back any punches when he learned that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended and his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, was taken off the air indefinitely after the late-night host made some ill-advised comments surrounding the death of Charlie Kirk.
Janson, who has crafted hit songs like “Buy Me a Boat” and “Fix a Drink,” took the opportunity to actually celebrate Kimmel’s current situation. He went to all of his social media accounts and posted a clip of Kimmel making fun of his song “Good Vibes.” The country music singer says that he had played Kimmel’s show shortly before he played on Fox & Friends, and the clip of him performing for the Fox News program is the one that Jimmy Kimmel made fun of.
The lyrics of the 2019 song “Good Vibes” go like this:
“I ain’t watchin’ TV todayBad news, it can just stay awayIf you ain’t got anything good to sayThen shut your mouth
I got my windows down and my blinders onRadio set to my favorite songAll green lights on the road I’m onMan, there ain’t no doubt.”
On Kimmel’s program, he cut off the song right after the “blinders on” portion and jokingly finished out the rest with this line:
“Got my head up my butt like a big moron.”
The late-night host then pleaded for everyone in the studio audience to sing along with him. Kimmel seemingly had an issue with the country music singer encouraging people not to watch the TV or the news, and the joke (?) that he cracked at the expense of Janson was something that the singer-songwriter never forgot.
And brought back to light with this fiery post:
“I played this d-bags show in LA a while back, it was fine. Later on, I played in NYC on ‘Fox & Friends’ singing ‘Good Vibes’… it was then, that he decided to make fun of me for doing it. Jimmy Kimmel, you got exactly what you deserve. Who’s the moron now?”
Boom… roasted.
Janson isn’t the only one that’s taking shots at the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Other stars, celebrities, and singers have voiced their displeasure with Kimmel’s comments on Charlie Kirk’s death that ultimately caused Disney and ABC to pull the plug (for now) on the show. Many believe that the network pulling Kimmel’s show – either temporarily or forever – is a good idea.
On the flip side, fellow late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Jon Stewart dedicated some/all of their shows to calling out what they believe to be the government silencing the media through the FCC. Others have argued that Kimmel being taken off the air for something that he said is a violation of the first amendment, which protects free speech.
All in all, it’s a mess, and to be honest with you… we might all be better off if we actually listened to Janson’s advice in “Good Vibes” and turned the TV off for a while.
