Fans have come up with a wild conspiracy theory following Selena Gomez’ wedding to Benny Blanco over the weekend

Justin Bieber fans have gone awol with conspiracy theories after Selena Gomez got married to Benny Blanco over the weekend – and the accusations are getting even more bizarre.

For those not in the loop, on Saturday (27 September) the Wizards of a Waverly Place star, 33, tied the knot with the music producer, 37, after they got engaged in December last year.

Selena looked incredible in an ivory halter-neck Ralph Lauren wedding dress, while her new hubby looked dapper in a black and white tuxedo.

The married couple shared a slew of adorable images from their big day to social media, to the delight of fans who flooded the comments with congratulations.

However, some fans of Selena’s ex Justin have took it upon themselves to come up with a wild array of conspiracy theories, taking aim at the singer.

Selena and Justin had an on-and-off relationship from 2010 when they were aged between 16 and 18, with many fans convinced the pair would get married.

But as we know, this didn’t happen, and they split for the final time in March 2018 after reconciling again in late 2017.

Justin went on to marry Hailey Bieber on 13 September of the same year in a New York City courthouse ceremony, before a formal wedding and reception on 30 September, 2019.

They went on to welcome their first child together, Jack Blues Bieber, last year.

Despite Selena and Justin parting ways a whole seven years ago, some fans were so obsessed with the relationship that even now, they’re keeping close tabs on both stars.

And now, people appear to be drawing ‘similarities’ between the Biebers’ wedding and Selena’s recent nuptials.

Before the wedding, one fan penned on Twitter: “Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco has chosen the SAME week and month to marry as Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber wedding.

“The Blancos will marry 27th September, The Biebers got married 30th September.”

Seemingly thinking it’s not a coincidence, a second user bizarrely wrote on Reddit: “She’s hoping her anniversary overshadows Justin and Hailey’s every year forward. Ironically I don’t think J&H care, they seem to want out of the spotlight anyway.”

And a third claimed: “Probably would’ve picked the 30th if it landed on a weekend too.”

To add fuel to the fire, other social media users have picked up on the fact that Selena and Benny allegedly used the same event planners as the Biebers did for their big day, MailOnline reports.

Mindy Weiss was reportedly their wedding planner, working with Revelry Event Designers, who have a number of high-profile events under their belt.

However, other fans have made sure to squash all the wild accusations and defend Selena, with one questioning: “Ok, and what’s the big deal? Is September written in the name of Mr. and Mrs. Bieber, like nobody else can get married in it?”

While a second sarcastically penned: “Oh yeah like she remembers when Biebers got married.”

And another fan pointed out that Selena has actually been using the event planner long before the Biebers’ big day, explaining: “Justin and Hailey get married two months before their celebration wedding and Selena has worked with her even for her parties since 2015.”
