“This Will Be My Last Nashville Show”: Jelly Roll Explains Why He’s Putting a Hold on Performing in His Hometown
Jelly Roll is currently on tour with Post Malone. However, he took a break from their Big Ass Stadium Tour to take the stage at the Music City Rodeo, Nashville’s first PRCA rodeo event. During his performance, he announced that he won’t hold another concert in his hometown for at least two years. He has a good reason, though.
Jelly Roll is a proud Nashville native. He grew up in Antioch and has long represented Music City in his lyrics. After breaking into the country music world, he has enjoyed performing on some of the city’s biggest stages, selling out the Bridgestone Arena multiple times.
He has also taken the stage during some of the city’s biggest events, including country music awards shows and the recent PRCA rodeo event. While performing at that event, he informed the crowd it would be his final show in Nashville until the new Nissan Stadium opens in 2027.
Jelly Roll Explains Why He Won’t Play Nashville Until 2027
Jelly Roll stopped the music during his set at the Music City Rodeo to make a surprising announcement. “I shouldn’t say this. I’m going to get in trouble, but I have to say it out loud,” he said, prefacing the message. Then, he asked concertgoers to film what he had to say.
“This will be my last Nashville show until 2027, y’all,” he said to sounds of disappointment from the crowd. “Hear me out, though. This is why: because I need y’all’s help. I want to be the first act to play Nissan Stadium when it opens in the spring of 2027,” he explained. The crowd erupted in cheers.
“I never thought I would make it here, I never thought I would sell the Bridgestone out. We sold the Bridgestone out three times now, two times in the last five months. In 2027, Nissan Stadium, please let the local boy live a dream and open up the new stadium,” he said, the excitement and emotion rising in his voice. The somber announcement quickly became one of the rising star’s trademark sermons.
“Let the local boy do it, baby,” he shouted to the rafters. “I’ve been a f**kin’ lifelong Titans fan. Let me play Nissan Stadium, y’all,” he said before taking a breath to calm down. He explained that he had to speak performing at the new stadium into existence. Then, told his fans how they could help. “We could do it, y’all. If all of y’all brought a friend, we could do it.”
