New music coming SOON.

Megan Moroney is gearing up to release her highly-anticipated third studio album Cloud 9 in February, and she just revealed the tracklist last week, which confirmed two features, one being British pop star Ed Sheeran, and the other being country star Kacey Musgraves.

Fans seemed to think they might be a real possibility to be on the album, and Kacey and Megan teamed up for a song called “Bells & Whistles,” which is the one I’m most looking forward to hearing.

But before we get to hear those, Megan just announced on Instagram that the next single from Cloud 9 is dropping this Friday, and it’s a song called “Wish I Didn’t,” which she has teased bits of when the album was first announced.

It sounds like it definitely leans into her more pop sensibilities, as she sings about potentially having to seek revenge on a former flame:

“You’ve got a hell of a reputation,
So here I am patiently waiting,
For that other shoe… or should I say boot to drop,
I’ve heard all of the horror stories,
Your graveyard of girls before me,
If you play dirty, how do I say this?
Hell hath no fury,

You show up and you’ve got all the right things to say,
It’s all sunshine and blue skies,
But I can also make it rain,
Don’t make me wish I didn’t get dressed up…”

And if that “make it rain” line sounds a little familiar, it might be because fans have already been speculating that this song could reference her fling with fellow country star Riley Green, who has a song called “Make It Rain,” which appeared on the deluxe edition of his album Don’t Mind If I Do.

The drama about these two, and whatever they were, never seems to end, but I’m sure hearing the entire song on Friday will give much needed context and maybe we can settle it once and for all… but that’s probably wishful thinking:

“‘WISH I DIDN’T’ OUT FRIDAY.”
