I thought that family tragedies only happened in movies… But no!!!

Inside Kellie Pickler's War With Late Husband Kyle Jacobs' Parents: 'Her Life Has Been a Living Hell'

Kellie Pickler filed an emergency plea in Tennessee court, asking to delay a scheduled trial between her and her former in-laws slated for March 20. Reed and Sharon Jacobs — the parents of Kellie’s late husband, Kyle Jacobs, and executors of his estate — had requested the court date after alleging the “Tough” singer, 38, “failed to relinquish possession of estate property,” including a gun collection, designer watches and valuable guitars.

Meanwhile, Kellie’s lawyers claim the Reeds came into her Nashville home and took items without providing an inventory. They also contend that several of the disputed items are no longer even in the star’s possession.

The legal drama has been ongoing since Kyle, a successful country song writer, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in February 2023 at the age of 49. And whether or not the courts ultimately side with Kellie, the impact of the added back-and-forth has been devastating to her.

“Kyle’s been gone over two years and Kellie hasn’t had a peaceful moment since,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “Ever since he died and she declined to be estate administrator — and Kyle’s parents took over — her life has been a living hell.

The current family dynamic has caused strain and affected Kellie’s emotional well-being. She hasn’t been able to get over the grief of losing her husband, nor has she been allowed to move on.”

Why Did Kellie Pickler Let Kyle’s Parents Serve as Executors?

Kyle didn’t leave a will, so as his wife of 12 years, Kellie would normally have been in charge of his estate. But according to the insider, she opted to let his parents serve as executors because she didn’t feel she was the right person for the job.

“While she wanted to avoid potential conflicts with beneficiaries, ironically, that is what has happened here,” says the insider. “Kellie must have felt a sense of duty toward Kyle’s memory and his parents initially, but all she’s gotten from Sharon and Reed since they became the administrators is constant criticism.”

It’s possible tensions between Kellie and her in-laws started years before, when Kellie and Kyle — who met at a Nashville bar in 2008 — ditched plans for a massive wedding and eloped, without their families, in 2011. “I said, ‘Baby, let’s just run away,’” Kellie recalled on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

No matter where things went wrong, it’s clear that instead of bringing them closer, Kyle’s death has driven a wedge between Kellie and the Reeds that shows no sign of improving.

“There’s no denying their battle has prevented Kellie from healing as a widow,” says the insider. “She doesn’t know how much more of the drama she can take, but Kellie realizes she must remain strong and firmly believes she’s in the right on this issue.”
