Before embarking on his music career, Riley Green played football for Jacksonville State University while he was in college in his Alabama hometown.

It’s something he believes helped prepare him for the success he’s enjoying today.
“Being a quarterback, you’ve gotta have a certain level of confidence to go out there and lead the pack, I guess,” Riley says. “And if you’re gonna get up onstage in front of people and sing about stuff you made up, you’ve gotta have some level of confidence then, too. You know what I mean?”
“It’s one thing if you’re just an amazing singer and you’re singing a song you know everybody is gonna sing along to,” he continues. “But I had to go out there and win ‘em over with songs that I made up, and that’s a pretty scary thing for anybody, I’m sure.”
“So, you know, definitely the confidence that playing team sports gives you, it definitely helped me out and helped me get to where I am now,” he says.
Riley’s just released his new radio single, “Change My Mind,” ahead of the start of his Cowboy as It Gets Tour April 16 in Southaven, Mississippi.
Fans Are Convinced Megan Moroney’s Latest Tracks Are About This Hunky Country Singer
It’s raining Easter eggs out here.

Who doesn’t love an Easter egg hunt?
Not the costumed-bunny kind, though. We’re talking deciphering hints, clues, and codes artists strategically leave in their work, be it cinema, poetry, paintings, you name it. For our purposes here, we’re talking grade-A country music.
Like crossover superstar Taylor Swift, Megan Moroney doesn’t just drop punchy country-pop hits, she leaves a trail of sparkly breadcrumbs for her fans to devour. And for those of you paying attention, two tracks off her forthcoming album, Cloud 9 — “Wish I Didn’t” and “Who Hurt You?” — are the latest exhibits being pored over.
In “Wish I Didn’t,” Moroney sings about the fury she’ll unleash if her lover betrays her. The song, which dropped on Jan. 16, was accompanied by a music video that plays out like an homage to the Angelina Jolie-and-Brad Pitt movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Opposite Moroney in the video is Dylan Efron, a former Traitors faithful and brother of one Zac.
Early in the song, Moroney sings, “You show up, and you’ve got all the right things to say / It’s all sunshine and blue skies, but I can also make it rain.” It’s the “make it rain” part that has fans convinced Moroney is taking a swipe at Riley Green, Moroney’s rumored former ex and fellow country star who released a breakup anthem called “Make It Rain” back in 2024.
You see, Green was romantically linked to the “Tennessee Orange” singer in early 2025, with the two spotted together on vacation. Meanwhile, there were apparently rumors of sparks between Green and another country star, Ella Langley, also flying after the two recorded their award-winning duet, “You Look Like You Love Me.”
Things got even stickier in March, when Green told the world he was single (here’s a good love-triangle explainer if you’re confused, and who wouldn’t be?), so you can see the possible dig Moroney’s taking with her “make it rain” lyric.
To make matters even more interesting, Moroney joined media personality Elaina Smith on TikTok to talk about Cloud 9. While doing so, she hyped “Who Hurt You?” saying she’s “really excited” for fans to hear it.
She goes on to say, “Bar for bar, didn’t lie, said everything so that I don’t have to answer interview questions about ‘the situation.’”
If fans are correct, “the situation” refers to the aforementioned love triangle. Moroney continues, “Yeah, and here’s my piece, and there’s no reason to ask me any questions about it because I told you what I needed to say. I’m trying to just be efficient here. … I’m like, have you heard the song? Like, there should be no further questions.”
