Lauren Alaina isn’t letting mom-shamers get to her as she navigates life as a first-time parent.

Lauren Alaina and her husband, Cam Arnold, welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Beni Doll Arnold, just two months ago.

But the “Getting Good” singer has already found herself facing criticism after a video she posted last month brought in a lot of unwanted opinions.

Alaina had posted a video on her social media showing herself cleaning a bunch of bottles. After that, many people flooded the comments, upset with her for bottle-feeding her newborn.

It didn’t take long for Alaina to respond to the backlash. Shortly after, she posted a video telling people who criticized her that they need to “mind your business.”

“Just because I posted a video of myself washing my daughter’s bottles does not give you the right to shame me and harass me and tell me that I should be breastfeeding my child when in reality I’m triple feeding my child,” Alaina said in the clip.

The new mom isn’t finished calling out people who have something to say about her parenting, though.

In a recent appearance on Taste of Country Nights, she once again pointed out how quick people are to judge.

“People assumed I’m not breastfeeding and they shamed me for it,” she said.

“Which, by the way, if I didn’t wanna breastfeed my baby, that is my decision, so I don’t know why people thought they could come for me,” she added.

Alaina has actually been open about her struggles with breastfeeding. She’s shared that Beni has had a hard time latching. Although they’ve seen feeding specialists, bottle feeding is what works best for them right now.

At the end of the day, Alaina just wants to make it clear that people who aren’t directly involved should keep their opinions to themselves, because the negativity doesn’t help anyone.

“I have friends that can’t breastfeed and they formula-fed their babies from the beginning and they’re fine,” Alaina continued. “People need to chill — like, who are you?”

Lauren Alaina Shares Her Daughter’s Scary Birth Story

Not long ago, Lauren Alaina opened up about Beni’s birth story, and the singer couldn’t hold back her tears while remembering the experience.

“We had kind of a scary birth,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and up under her shoulder, and then between her legs. So every time I pushed, her heart rate plummeted.”

Alaina went on to say that it became an emergency to get Beni out safely.

“When they handed her to me…it makes me want to cry thinking about it,” she continued. “When she made that first like [sound]…I looked over at my husband and he was hysterically sobbing.”
