Lainey Wilson Shares Exactly What to Expect at Her Upcoming Wedding

Lainey Wilson knows what she wants when when it comes to her upcoming wedding to Devlin “Duck” Hodges.

PEOPLE caught up with the country music star at the 2026 Grammys, during which she revealed her “must-haves” for her future big day to the former NFL player and current realtor, 29.

“Well, first of all, I just want it to be about what it’s supposed to be about,” says Wilson, 33. “I want my family to be there, like my closest family, like my mama and daddy, sister and her kids. I want good music, good food.”

After being asked what type of food she’ll have, Wilson replied that she wants it be something both she and her future husband can enjoy.

“Well, I’m from Louisiana, so maybe a little bit of, like, a Cajun flare. My fiancé likes a good steak. So it might just be a mixture,” she says.

Wilson announced her engagement in February 2025.

In a TikTok video shared by WTVF-TV in April 2025, the “Heart Like a Truck” singer revealed how Hodges popped the question.

She explained that she and Hodges had been ”wanting to go see the George Jones estate” and at the time, he told her they needed to “go next week” to see the site.

She continued, “And then I talked myself out of it because I thought, ‘Man, I sure would be upset if I talked myself into this and that don’t happen.’”

Her intuition proved to be right.

“As we [pulled] up, I realized that there were different plans,” she said. “So, he had it all set up. He had the candles and the picture frames, and it could not have been more perfect.”

In August 2025, Wilson told PEOPLE that she is looking forward to stepping “outside of the box” with her wedding dress, and described the reaction she wants from Hodges.

“Hopefully, when he sees me, he’ll be boohooing,” she said at the time.

“So, I had talked myself into thinking he was going to do it that day. And then I called my sister, I said, ‘He’s going to propose to me today.’ And she was like, ‘I gotta go,’ ” Wilson recalled.
